Beautiful groups, RR ... as usual, of course. I like mixing up my shooting style, too, as in focusing hard to shoot the smallest 5 shot or 10 shot group and then just letting loose and pouring shots into the target. Keeps things interesting and fun, too, but I also think it's good for a shooter not get rigidly locked into one type shooting, especially with a lever gun, given the way a lever gun lends itself to several shooting styles.
Yeah, winter is closing in for us northern folks. On our last range trip, earlier in the week, cold fingers were an issue, again, after a long warm summer and autumn. Loading ammo in the side gate of the Marlin for a little dicey. Did a little airgun work, today, and, yup, almost forgot how loading those small 177 pellets can be a hassle with cold fingers.
Time for some wild west shootin' fun. My 1860 Henry in 45 Colt. 8" targets at 50 yards. Off hand standing as always. Winchester 250 gr LFN. 50 rounds flawlessly through the rifle as usual. Action slick as can be, and the open factory sights do their job if I do mine. I wanted to put some pressure on myself today so 1 target is a 5 shot group only. It definitely makes a difference when you know you have to get 5 shots as tight as you can. 1 not quite with the other 4. The other target is the other 45 rounds, just shoot and not overthink it. This ammo is the most consistent compared to any other factory ammo I've shot. Black Hills is a close second. This rifle always puts a smile on my face.
