What a race. With many Big Ones to boot.
Great night for a lot of drivers running for shoe-string teams.
Congrats again to Stenhouse. His good luck was when Ragan went on to block the wrong line.

Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
Danica ran good all day .... bounced from top 10 - 15 back to 20 - 25 and then back up front .... typical for Daytona racing where lines of vehicles move forward and back several times a lap .... she was running 10th with 6 laps to go when a wreck she had nothing to do with starting took her out .... yet another race where her finish doesn't reflect just how well she ran all day

Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
Although there sure were a lot, it didn't seem as bad to me this time, but I remember saying one year, a few back, that I watched the NBC Commercials today and they actually put some racing on in-between them.
But now that the subject is up, who noticed the poor quality of the coverage? If Fox is an A, I would give NBC no better than a C. Not enough cameras for replays (nothing new really), poor quality of audio when interviewing some drivers, missed current stats during the race, no rundown of the top 10 in the stage results, deleted names on the top banner listing driver positions, poor judgement calls... I did like Kyle Petty and Dale Jarrett's commentary though.
Many like to knock Fox, but they are the experts in my opinion, especially in comparison.

take Darrel Waltrip and Kyle Petty off of the broadcast and I'd be much happier with both networks .... I do agree that FOX offers better coverage

They are two of my favorites, lol.JEBar wrote:take Darrel Waltrip and Kyle Petty off of the broadcast and I'd be much happier with both networks
Forgot to mention Jeff Burton before. I also like him as a commentator on NBC.

Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
I freely admit that my opinion about them are no doubt colored by the fact that I couldn't stand either one of them as drivers .... Darryl had driving talent but it would require me to violate forum norms to use the most accurate descriptors of his attitude and personality .... his "Icky Shuffle" was pathetic and "Boogity - Boogity - Boogity" got old in a hurry .... Kyle never demonstrated the heart or driving skill that many fans hopped were passed down from Richard .... giving him all due credit, his Victory Junction Camp is a great effort to help with a very worthy cause ....

Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
Yeah, Darrel was the guy to hate years ago. I believe it was Cale Yarborough who called him "Jaws", lol. But in my opinion, he knows it and he has changed. What I also like about him is that he is a wealth of information and really knows his history to boot, besides being a good commentator. But I could also do without that Boogity stuff.
Kyle just really never got the "gift of driving" from Richard, but I always liked him. On one of his last good finishes, which was only about 3rd, he was real humbled and appreciative about it. He said it felt like a "win" to him.
By the way, his Dad turned 80 yesterday. Time sure does fly.

Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
Kurt blows an engine sending the race into Overtime and costing the 78 a win at the regulation distance .... that said, congrats to the 78 for winning all 3 stages .... to me the most impressive car in the race was the 42 who literally came from the back of the field twice and still finished second .... my girl ran a steady race, finished 15th
Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
Look like the 78 and the 42 cars got it together this year.

Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
I agree about the 42 and 78 .... the 42 passed more cars than anyone else .... the big boys and girl are due to be at New Hampshire Motor Speedway next Sunday (July 16th) .... New Hampshire is a 1 mile track (OK, to be exact) a 1.056 mile track ..
.. I believe I heard them announce that there will not be another 1.5 mile track until the Chase which has several of them

Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
Totally missed the race, lol. Thought it was going to be today. Worked late and would have missed much of it anyway. Caught the stories and videos on the Nascar site. Great win by Truex. I see that Jr had windshield problems but finished with a 12th. Chase Elliott had the best of the Hendrick cars with a 3rd. Not a great night for the other half (Kahne 38th, Johnson 40th).

Johnson was wrecked through no fault of his own .... Kasey had a tough day, wrecked on lap 23 .... he's now 22nd in the "race for the chase"

Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
why do I pull for Danica's race team ? .... the answer is simple, William Lee .... here is a link to a TV-5 sports news report on him .... http://www.wralsportsfan.com/from-wolfp ... /16812043/.... my wife taught William High School chemistry and physics and I served as a trainer for the school's wrestling team of which he was a member .... he's a fine young man .... a few years ago he gave us a personal tour of Stewart-Haas racing that we both thoroughly enjoyed ....

Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
The Gibbs Team finally won a race.
Congrats to Denny Hamlin.
Kyle Busch might have won it, but had 2 Pit Road Speeding Penalties towards the end. Still salvaged a 12th.

Re: Official 2017 NASCAR Thread
once again, Larson had the strongest car but came up short .... Hamlin could have easily blown it but you have to hand it to him, he what he had to do to win .... my girl had a solid day, finished 13th
