Anyone here like the Daisy Avantis?
Anyone here like the Daisy Avantis?
I've had an air gun of some sort since I was a kid. The two that I enjoy shooting the most are the Daisy Avanti 753 rifle and the Avanti 747 pistol. World class 10 meter accuracy on a budget. Any of you into the 10 meter Daisy airguns? Sadly the entire lineup of the pistols and rifles was discontinued somewhat recently.

You are definitely in the right place. I found a new in the box Daisy 953 at a local shop, back in a corner, collecting dust. Brought it home for $85, not expecting much. Wow! Best $85 I ever spent on an airgun.

Didn't Daisy get bought out recently?
I didn't know they discontinued these, JNG3, that is a shame.

Yes, the parent company of Gamo bought Daisy. And yes, sadly the entire line of 853/953/753/717/747 has been discontinued. Parts will still be available for the time being. I don't have any experience with the 499 Txgunrunner. Is it simply an accurized Red Ryder or is there more to it.

Absolutely love mine. The beautiful 747 above that TGR posted is now mine. He was kind enough to sell it to me a couple of years ago.
And I have a 953 as well. It is black and not as pretty as NCG'S.

On July 5 2016 Brockman, Rosser, Sherrill & CO purchased Daisy. BRS is the parent company of Gamo Outdoors. BRS is a private equity firm.
Edit- and for the record I don't think much of Gamo.

Anyhoo........back to topic. I have found that my 753 and 747 are not pellet picky. Yes, some pellets shoot better than others, but only slightly. Right now the 747 is being fed RWS Pistol Meisterkulegn. The 753 is liking RWS Rifle Meisterkulegn.

I've got to figure out a way to take pics and post them. I'm technologically inept!

Nope, got 'dumb' flip phone and no digital camera. I live under a rock (I prefer it that way).

Re: Anyone here like the Daisy Avantis?
I did a search for a Daisy 747 and found ........ NONE. I would have bought one if I found it. Sad news indeed.

Pyramid shows them out of stock. But has a notify option for when they get them.daytime dave wrote:I did a search for a Daisy 747 and found ........ NONE. I would have bought one if I found it. Sad news indeed.

But they do have a very nice looking option for $50 more.

And they have a less expensive Daisy that is a good gun.

I liked the Walther barrel on the rifles. I'll find one sometime.

Re: Anyone here like the Daisy Avantis?
I got a brand new in the box 747 from my favorite airgun seller, Baker airguns. Last one in stock. I was able to take three shots this morning. Two of three touched and the third wasn't too far away from around 7 meters. What a sweet gun. Dead on sights and great trigger out of the box. Not planning to adjust now. Pictures later.
