Besides, packing a Henry around in the arena makes folks nervous for some reason... :)

Wife and I went to town yesterday for breakfast and she snapped this pic on the way. The windy slopes of the Livingston Range on the Alberta-BC border. Elk and Griz country.

Looks like avalanche country, too. One thing we do NOT have around here, even with all our snow.

Yes. I don't do much riding in the mountains during winter. Too tough on horses. We get all the cattle out by early November. The last few rides of the season can be cold windy ones though. Best money ever spent was angora wooly chaps. My wife got me a small stainless steel thermos that fits in my saddle pouch. Hot black coffee never tastes better than out there.

On the coffee thing, I absolutely agree. I carry a thermos at times when riding the fat bike in the snow. Nothing beats coffee to take the bite out of the cold.

It's a good little thermos. I can fill it at 5am and it's still hot mid-afternoon. It has a locking lid that pops up to let you drink from a small spout. Pretty easy to use one handed even with gloves on.

Once the weather here breaks (this week???) I'll get back to posting pics from horseback again. Cow country looks better between a horse's ears. :)

Snapped this today near Crowsnest Mtn. Hard to see but it's a big elk herd. A few hundred or so.
