I recently bought some diesel for 2.89 a gallon. I buy a lot more diesel through the year than I do gas. So I dont really watch the gas price to much. Diesel is not coming down to much and trying its best to hang onto the 3.00 a gallon mark in Co and Texas area. I know its even higher out west and other parts of the country.

 Love it coach! Enjoy that ride right past the gas pumps.

Here in Washington we have very high gas taxes in lieu of an income tax. Our current administration just added another .12 cents to the high tax to help offset the deficit we now have. So the price for regular is around $3.80 but that’s down from over $4 recently. Today I’m making a trip to Idaho so I’ll fill up at about .60 cents less, around $3.20.
In CA the tax rate is about $.90 a gallon.

Next year should be interesting with 2 major refineries shutting down because of all the regulations and fines put on them by our governor Gavin Newsome.

He also created a state board that is randomly raising the taxes about every 6 months…
Deplorable California 2A supporter.

Since here in WA road construction and maintanance is primarily paid for with the gas tax they are going to gradually transition to a Road Usage Charge mainly due electric and high MPG cars decreasing the amount of gas sold and the decrease in gas tax revenue. There is curently a higher registration charge for electric and hybrid cars which would be dropped if they opt into the current voluntary RUC.

"AI Overview
Washington State is in the process of transitioning to a
Road Usage Charge (RUC) system, a pay-per-mile fee that is intended to replace the existing gas tax as a primary source of transportation funding. The current gas tax remains in effect for most drivers, but a voluntary RUC program will begin on July 1, 2025.
Current Status

Voluntary Program: A voluntary RUC program will be available to drivers of light-duty vehicles (weighing 10,000 lbs or less) starting July 1, 2025.
Gas Tax Credit: The RUC is not an additional tax. Drivers participating in the RUC program will receive a credit for any gas taxes they pay at the pump, ensuring they do not pay both.
Rate: The proposed RUC rate is approximately 2.6 cents per mile, which is designed to be equivalent to what the average vehicle currently pays in gas tax.
For EV and Hybrid Owners: Drivers of electric and hybrid vehicles who opt into the voluntary program will have their annual flat registration fees (currently $225 for EVs and $75 for hybrids) waived.
Reporting: The primary method for reporting miles will be annual self-reported odometer readings. GPS tracking will be an optional method that requires a driver's informed consent.

Future Implementation Timeline
Legislation proposes a gradual, phased transition to a mandatory RUC system:

2027–2029: Voluntary RUC program open to EV and hybrid drivers (registration fees waived).
2029: Mandatory participation begins for electric and hybrid vehicles.
2031–2035: Gradual inclusion of gas-powered vehicles with high fuel efficiency (20+ miles per gallon), eventually expanding to include all relevant vehicles.
January 1, 2030: Target date for the implementation of a comprehensive, mandatory RUC program for light-duty vehicles.

The move is primarily due to declining gas tax revenues as vehicles become more fuel-efficient or fully electric, threatening a sustainable funding source for the state's road maintenance and infrastructure. More information can be found on the Washington State Road Usage Charge website."
