What did you see or get 2025 Deer Season

Post by daytime dave » Sun Nov 16, 2025 9:17 am

So, what did everyone see, get and use to get it?

My South Carolina season doesn't end until sunset on January 1 so my season is not yet over. I have not shot yet because I have only seen does and of those, only two were shooters.

More hunts to come and The Hartford Elk/Bullwinkle/Muy Grande may yet step out.

That's what I tell myself.

We had our gun opener in Southern zone of NY yesterday. Didn't see anything in the morning, plenty of shooting all around. In the afternoon I saw two doe running full tilt down the center of my pasture. Didn't even have time to raise the gun. A couple of hundred yards away, my nephew got a shot at some more does, but missed. Nothing this morning but high wind and light rain. Nothing was moving, only one shot in the whole valley.

My season starts Friday. Gun in Illinois is relegated to two weekends. Archery season my buddy took a 6 pointer. He has seen a lot of does, so hopefully they show up this weekend for me.

They got big by being illusive.

I seen couple of nice size deers, in my neighbor's front yard eating, a few days ago. It is bow and primitive firearms season. Yet, the is no discharge of firearms in city limits (subdivision), expect for defense. We are not too far from public hunting land. Modern firearms starts after Black Friday. By then, deers are hard to come by. But, they can be had.

Here in upstate NY, three of us hunted on opening day on my hunting property.
My adult son (age 43) shot his first ever deer, a nice looking doe.
My friend got a double, a four point and a doe. He's tagged out now.
Both of the above are "meat" hunters. I'm more selective.
I only got one and a half hours of hunting done on opening day because my son and my guest needed
my help dragging deer out of the woods using my little Honda ATV.
But I'm retired and can continue hunting until January 1st.
I will try and get some photos up here in this thread in the next day or so.
After being at the recreational/hunting property since Friday evening, I'm now catching up at home.
