Tomorrow is the day!

Post by Guide » Tue Sep 30, 2025 8:36 pm

Hello,
Tomorrow I pick up my new Henry 350 legend. My FFL sent me an email saying was in tonight. I’ll pick it up tomorrow night around 6. He’s a police officer and does firearms as a second job. Great guy to deal with he did my 410 was easy. He gets 25.00 per gun. He would have done them both for 40.00 if they came on together. Some of the places around here are 50 to 75 per gun!

I’ll let you know what the rifle looks like. I hope it’s as nice as my shotgun.

Well it feels good to get this behind me. I’m considering putting hammer extender on the rifle was think shot gun as well. I’ve always found hammers can get a little more difficult with gloves on. Fell safer with the extended. Anyone use them or have suggestions. I like the looks of the Carlson as it goes equally extended on both left and right. Don’t like the look of the grove tec. Power point makes a nice looking one but it’s all on one side of hammer. I wonder if pulling back all the time off center might wear something. I’ve read some people don’t like them for that reason. Any input welcomed.

Congrats on the new firearms.
My FFL charges $30 for transfers, if you pick them up at the same time 1 to 5 I think it is.
As to the hammer extender, all I've ever used in the past 40+ years is a one-sided.
I don't much care for the look of the two-sided ones myself.
As to wearing anything out...how many times do you really think you use it??
Like I said I still have my first Marlin 30-30 that's had a one-sided one since I got it back in '83.
I'll put it up against any Henry 30-30 you'd like.

I used a hammer extender on my SS when I first got it because the spring was so heavy to begin with the extender made it easier to cock. But since Henry did the upgrades to the SS and made it much easier I took it off. I would need to look but I think I have a couple of them laying around that I would give to somebody if they wanted to pay the postage to send it to them.

The FFL I use here doesn't charge, but they do collect and pass on the $10 that the Oregon State Police requires for the background check.

Double or single sided hammer extenders I don't think matter as far as wear. If you're right handed, you'll be pulling on the arm of the extender on that side of the hammer regardless of the extender being double sided or not. Mine happen to be double sided for symmetrical cosmetic appearance reasons.
