A walking stick for town

Post by GunnyGene » Mon Sep 29, 2025 7:46 am

I bought this unique woods walking stick from a neighbor quite a few years ago, and added a rubber foot for town. The spiral portions were Mother Natures doing. About 5' long.

Nice. The spiral was caused by a vine growing around the sappling.

I have a similar stick for hiking. I adorned mine with Eagle Scout items.
Yours has many more curls. The rubber tip is a must.

I'll have to find a picture of mine. A gift from one of my Mother's Friends. She was certified by the Eight Tribes of Virginia to teach Culture and Traditions and always had guests in her home. Now and then one would need a hand with something. As a Thank You one made me a walking stick, I've had it nearly 40 years. It was beaded but the leather thongs rotted away.

Pic to follow.

Took a pic of the gift from my mother's friend. I guess I need to get busy and add some beading and accents back to the top of the stick. He had turquoise, bone, and silver beading. The stick is about five foot high. :)

If I get the accents done I'll post another picture. 8-)

My grandma would use her's to poke weeds in the garden back into the ground so she couldn't see them.
