Below about -40 you can't put enough clothes on to keep warm. You chill from the inside just breathing cold air.RanchRoper wrote:Anything below zero makes my joints ache anymore.

28° here. To dark to tell whats going on outside. 1st cup of mud down, and the hounds have been fed and let out. Loving life up here in the mountains. Love being free, and being able to use and carry my beautiful Henry rifle as I wish. Gotta love that.

Dark here too still, but supposed to b the last mild day we see for awhile. I have to clean the wood stove chimney today, and get ready burn some wood this week when it's -30. We have a gas furnace too, but it runs steady at those temps, so the wood stove really helps keep the house warm and let's the furnace take a break. Not to mention the wood is more cost effective. Tea time here soon, the off to the dump with a truck load of garbage, and get on with the day. Have a good one all.
Might get to the range later too if there's any daylight left.

Mid thirties today. It snowed last night but didn't stick.
I'm having percolated coffee in my Scout Jamboree mug. Might get a tree today.
I'm really liking all the new avatars I'm seeing. It makes a nice variety.
I hope you all have a good day.

Sounds cold Brother. Be careful on that roof. Been there done that, but not in -30°. Brrrrrrrrrrr! Hopefully that range time will reinforce why you choose your way of life.RanchRoper wrote:Dark here too still, but supposed to b the last mild day we see for awhile. 30s here today, may hit 40 later. Snowing a little now, but not sticking.
Forecasting teens and twenties for next weekend. Cleaned my chimney about a month ago. I have a Buck Stove insert with a catalyst, have to remove and clean it also... done
I got a drier vent cleaning kit and an extension set at Lowes last year and can clean mine from the inside. It goes on a drill has a 3" brush and about 24' of plastic rods that screw together. I got a 5 gal bucket full last year. Not as much this year.
The wood is my primary source of heat, and got wood for free, just needed split, still working on that.

Overcast and a 14mph wind with 40* here but the chill factor is about 36*. I'm dog sitting for the son's black lab at 11:12 eastern time and spending time with the grandson for a few hours. He's a dandy!
Re: Our mornin Coffee and Weather
May hit 70 today... sunny but very windy. Quite a few trees blew over in my neighborhood yesterday.

Good morning everybody!
It's 30*, the weather is still in bed, which is where I should be too, but noooo .......... I'm getting ready to go to the range for my weekly dose of outdoor airgunning. And they say you get wiser as you get older. Yeah, right!
Have a great day, and enjoy your morning brews.

Re: Our mornin Coffee and Weather
Temperatures dropping steady this morning, already about -5, and looks like a pretty good snowstorm shaping up. That real small, icy serious type all-day snow coming off the mountains. Wood stove is on, kettle is on, and I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere today. Have a good day all.

Re: Our mornin Coffee and Weather
WOW, I guess it helps to listen to the weather report from the previous night.
Went to bed around 2:30, nothing to report. All quiet in the neighborhood.
Woke up at 8 AM, opened up the window shade of the bedroom and was blinded by 4" of snow on the ground.
Procrastinator never did try to start the snow blower...I have a project for the day....grrrrrrrrrrr
