Memphis is known as the black hole, it's common for that to happen. I do a lot of mail order and things often disappear for days when they get to Memphis. But in general the USPS is slipping badly.

Defintely a regional problem, Memphis is notorious for losing packages. I'm lucky if one arrives on time.

Well the spring arrived today and I wasted no time getting it put in. Cocking the hammer is now easy as it should be, much better on my thumb. I stepped out of the shop and fired 15 rounds flawlessly, and I use small rifle primers in my 357 loads. To my surprise this rifle did not have two nested springs, only the larger one and the plunger is made of white plastic, I would have expected steel. Thank you Al, I appreciate your help very much. This is a very nice improvement!

That's great news! My only spring experience was on a pre-recall model and it didn't go well. Glad to hear the issue is solved. Good work Al52.

My new Henry Single Shot 30-30 just purchased in 2025 has a very good trigger. The test firing card included say Dec 04 2024.

I took the rifle apart, and it has one hammer spring and the white plastic retainer for the spring. On my trigger scale, the pull is 3 to 3 1/4 pounds.

I used a Leupold scope base with low rings to set a Leupold fixed power scope nice and low,...it clears the hammer and hammer extension nicely. Fixed power scopes are getting rare. All my variable powder scope have too big of an eye piece/power ring and would need higher mounting.

Snow drifts prevent me from shooting the rifle as of yet.

Well, I guess I will have to amend my previous post. Finally got to shoot my Henry single shot 30-30. With the Grovtech metal hammer extension on, the rifle would only fire 50 % of the time. With the hammer extension off, it was good for about 9 out of 10.

My rifle is the newer type with one hammer spring. Out of the box, the trigger pull is 3 to 3 1/4 pounds by my trigger gauge.

I took the spring assembly apart, and added a .10" thick washer/shim of proper diameter in the tube that contains the hammer spring. It rests in the bottom of the tube that the stock-bolt threads into....then the spring sets on top of it, and then the plastic cup that the hammer strut connects to.

This brought my trigger pull up 8 oz/1/2 pound...now it is 3 3/4 lb, give or take. Hopefully, this will help with light primer strikes. Have not got the chance to shoot yet.

I may order some #54MY44 springs, rated 37-38 in lbs. They are pricey for 10 springs!

It seems the weight of the hammer extension greatly affects the primer strikes. Ranger Point Precision has an aluminum hammer spur that should be lighter than the Grov-tech hammer extension. I will also try one of these.

Any advice is welcome.
