My granddaughter came over to the house today to help mec with the trains. She got to looking over the black powder pistols and asked if I would show her how to use them. So we made a date to go to the range this weekend with uncles and cousins.

I'm on the deck looking over the garden with a shotgun at the ready. Something is still helping itself, ground hog or rabbit is unknown. I'm harvesting more things, so I am protective.

Once she gets of whiff of that smoke BRM she will be hooked and I hope she is. Need more young people involved in Black Powder. Last year I donated a rifle to the local 4h people who shoot regular at our BP Range. Have fun BRM and also we need to see some train pics.

Im here in spirit but only hoisting my mixed water drink. I use some Zero Sugar Body Armour with fresh squeezed lime and water. One 20oz bottle makes three tall glasses of water mix. Takes the boring out of straight water and the Zero Sugar BA is sweetened with Stevia instead of those chemicals. Im down 33 lbs now. Im still very cautious when I do have a cocktail as I dont want to make the motor ie the heart to upset. Next month I go in for a cat scan on the heart and then a week later to a place I didnt think I would be going. The room where they will do what they call an ablation of my heart. Maybe when its all over I can have a few more cocktails. I know one thing I hope I can get off some of these meds as Im not likin the reaction from them.

Your comment about the shotgun on the deck makes me think of yesterday. I went to my shed to get the fertilizer spreader out and put some on the back yard. Upon getting to the lawn a yellow jacket hit me in the left inside ankle. It smarted for about 4 hours but she ended up in the grave. Yesterday I found where they came from and emptied a can of spray on their nest entrance. They are under the shed where I cannot get to them. Today I went to HD to get more spray and hammered them again. Im going out again now to see if there is any activity. I aint stoppin till they are gone.

Understand about those wasp Al. I was walking through the mudroom Tues. to the kitchen to get another cup of coffee.
Barefooted, which I usually don't do, and stepped on one. Thought it it was a small rock of something at first, after a couple steps I finally stopped and grab it only to find out it was a wasp. I squashed him and tossed in the garbage. He had stung me on the second little toe, it swelled up and was red for a couple hrs.

Sounds like a super weekend coming up BRM, on that note, I picked up another 300 #11 caps at the local WW yesterday.
I did leave the other 300 for someone else.

This summer extravaganza is getting off to a rocky start:
1. Windshield replacement showed up with a chip. So replacement won’t be in until Thursday.
2. Son was going to pickup his brother’s family from Denmark on Wednesday night at 2300 hrs.
3. Son from Denmark calls and says airline from Minneapolis to Sioux Falls is delayed because airline cannot locate a 1st Officer for flight.
4. Body shop calls and says replacement windshield will be here on Thursday and be ready for wife to drive to Sioux Falls and pickup family.
5. Son from Denmark calls and says flight to Sioux Falls is canceled and they will not fly out of Minneapolis until Thursday morning
6. Body shop calls and says replacement windshield will not be delivered until Monday
7. Denmark son calls and says they negotiated with airline and got a flight to an airport 25 miles from us arriving 5:00 Thursday.
8. Body shop calls and says they have a loaner we can use until our rig is done.
9. Wife picks up loaner, drives a mile down the road and hears a noise so she drives back to body shop, yep something is dragging, so give her a different loaner.
10. Son’s flight was supposed to be arriving at 1600 hrs. Calls and says flight is delayed until 1800 hrs.

You couldn’t make this stuff up, I hope this soap opera ends and my son and family get picked up by my wife today by 1800 hrs.

I think a double Irish is due tonite ! Slàinte

BRM, sometimes, if you didn't have bad luck, you'd have no luck at all. I hope all of you get together for a nice time. It does make for a good story that you cannot make up.

Al, I hope you get all of them. Luckily for me, bee stings are only a 30 second irritation for me. I've never been bothered by them, although I've never fallen into a nest of killer bees.

I'm on the deck with some old country music, a martini and the Savage .410 / .22lr. I shouldn't say, but last night, after posting, I looked up and a rabbit was sitting within 30 yds. I closed to 25 yds, but he saw me moving and got away, for now............................

Not trusting the .22 to be terribly accurate, at least not 30 yds rabbit accurate, I wanted to get him with a load of shot at 20 yds. Tonight, I may not be as choosy if I see him.

I have lifted my martini to you all. Enjoy the evening.

Geez BRM, hope things finally work out for you guys. Damn! Speaking of beverages, I may have a beer or two or..... while I bbq some burgers in a few.

Update, before settling in and getting too far with my martini, I decided to take a walk to the garden. I selected the shotgun barrel on the hammer, as I was moving and wasn't sure what I would see. Sure enough, at a place I never expected to see him, I caught him from the corner of the eye at 30 yds and retreating. I was looking away from the garden and he ran out of the cabbage and broccoli area. I sent one in his direction, but it's pretty thick where he disappeared into. It has worked before, but I'm not confident I reached him.
Time will tell. Hopefully the cabbage is safe for the night.

Friday is fine here in the east. It was in the low 80's here today. It's in the lower 70's now as the sun goes down. I have the Savage 42 on the deck next to a waiting martini. I worked on removing an old Craftsman garden tractor from my step son's place I had loaned him years ago when his main mower gave up the ghost. The Craftsman has given up the ghost now too. It has too many things for me to fix. It will go to a neighbor who's son scraps metals. Maybe he will be willing to spend the time on it.
I will give the garden a perimeter check before getting into the slightly dirty martini.

I will enjoy the martini even more now. Just before I was going to check the garden, I happened to glance over to the garden and right at the cabbage and broccoli area, a younger rabbit was about to head to the buffet. I didn't even stand up. It's just over 25 yds and I stayed seated and gave him a dose of repellent from the deck. The cabbage is safe tonight.

I raise my martini to all good members and say "salute".

Al, I have a set of glasses that look like that. They are Star Trek glasses that came with a decanter. A Christmas gift from my daughter one year.
