AMD

About 10 years ago the eye doc told me I had Macular Degeneration but since then there has been no change. A couple months ago I noticed a spot of distortion in my left eye and it's AMD. I saw two different doctors and got the same story....there's nothing they can do. This is the "dry" AMD and if it goes "wet" they can put an injection in the eye to arrest the progress.

SO...since March the left eye hasn't gotten any worse and my right eye is still pretty good and I'm right eye dominant I figured the only way to deal with this is by taking another prairie dog trip. Leaving in the morning for Montana!

Got back last night and had great "Big Sky" weather and good shooting. I decided to skip any inside out prairie dog pics but between the .223, .22/250 and .22BR there was a considerable amount of PD disassembly!

I was going to download a couple pics from my new phone but they are showing up as JFIF instead of JPG and apparently what was very simple before is now not going to work. Before I emailed phone pics to myself and then downloaded them to my pictures and they showed up when I clicked the "Add Files"

Got back last night and had great "Big Sky" weather and good shooting. I decided to skip any inside out prairie dog pics but between the .223, .22/250 and .22BR there was a considerable amount of PD disassembly!

Dont send them to your email just do the same on your phone and load them to the add files from your phone and you should be golden. If I send mine to the computer Ive got to convert them from a heic pic to a JPG or the forum software wont let me load them

The brains of this operation (My wife) changed the pics to JPG. This is a Hart barreled .223 Rem 700. It was supposed to be a 1 in 12" twist but when it came back it was keyholing 55 gr. bullets and not doing too well with 50's either. I called the smith (Dan Dowling) and explained what was happening and told me him it was a 15" twist. He had never ever ordered a 15" twist so it was a mistake on the barrel maker Dan said "Send it back" to which I responded "Not so fast" It's been a one holer with 40 gr. V-Max for all of it's 2800 round life. It's wearing an old Burris 12X...."Made in USA". Now that's OLD!

This rifle started life as a stainless fluted Mod 700 in .22/250 that never shot very well. It's now a .22 BR with a 14" twist Hart barrel, Timney trigger with the action squared up and pillar bedded and wearing an old Vari-X III 6.5X20. Super accurate.

The last shot of the trip was a big beast at the far end of the town at a lasered 369 yards with the BR. I held 6" over his head and 4" into the mild crosswind and had a very gratifying "kerpuck". Seemed like a great memory to end the trip with.

Sighting in the 15" twist .223 prior to the trip. I could call the lower shot.

Those Hart barrels are really great. Glad the hunt was fun and your wife figured out the pics.

I was diagnosed with dry AMD last October. I had cataract surgery on my left eye early that month and my doctor saw something in my right eye that he wanted me to see a retina specialist before scheduling the right eye. Turns out that I have AMD in both eyes just more advanced in the right. It hasn’t been noticeable for normal distance vision, driving, watching the idiot box or even shooting. But reading with my left eye covered some areas of text is wavy and slightly out of focus. I am right handed and right eye dominant so I have some concern for future shooting issues. The doctor recommended vitamins that are formulated for eye health. I have been taking two a day since October I call them my eyetamins. Saw the doctor for a six month check and have no change yet. When I came out of the doctors office my wife asked what the doctor said. I told her he said I didn’t need a white cane or dog yet. She called me a smart ass!
