ETA: Something that's usually important for folks is Grip feel. The LC grip is a little thicker than the typical 1911, but is considerably narrower front to back. Grip angle is identical to a 1911. All of the controls are easily reached if you have avg. length digits, without changing your grip. If you're comfortable with a 1911 grip, you should be ok with the LC grip.
The gun can be fired with the stock folded, but I wouldn't advise it, since you lose access to the left side safety and the bolt lock, and it interferes with your thumb if it's not fully extended. The butt stock is easily removed if you want to shoot it without shouldering it.
PS: What I paid was the Military/Police discount price (10%), so about $830 without that. And of course the Governor got his 7% on the $749. And I bought 2 Glock mags and a box of range ammo, so out the door it was about $889. No NICS fee tho.
