I’m up and if I had some good safety glasses I would shoot some rimfire. Currently it’s -12F with a 5 mph wind.

33F here with freezing rain a common situation in Central Va.

Break out the Bermuda shorts boys it’s getting warm out there. 3 degrees ABOVE zero this morning. Sure is nice to see a temperature displayed without a minus sign. High today could get to 15. But the big snow storm arrives later tonight and all day tomorrow. The prediction is still for 8-12” with more in the snow belts. Yeah, I live in a snow belt so hang on.

Both the snow plow and blower started up fine yesterday but the diesel tractor wouldn’t. I didn’t crank it much but did put a trouble light (for heat) next to the fuel tank, plugged in the block heater and put a low amp charger on the battery. I’ll go out later today and see if it will fire. I didn’t add anti gel to the fuel but did put Sta-bil diesel conditioner in it. It wasn’t gelled but may be in the first stage of gelling as it looked somewhat opaque. I use off road diesel and it’s got a dye in it. Usually the dye is orange and my fuel in the tank looked more on the blueish side. I’ve had this tractor for 20 years and this the first time it’s not started. There have been several below zero winters in its past. Stored indoors in an uninsulated unheated shed.

Got this from a neighbor who’s wintering in San Diego at an RV park on a golf course. He’s such a bum!

I'm most relieved that yesterday's dental appointment resulted in a filling, not a crown .... heavy fog this morning which caused some local schools to open a couple of hours late .... cold front pushing falling temps and a cold rain into our area this morning ... 44 as this is being typed .... its supposed to drop below freezing around 7PM and stay there for something over 17 hours .... that's certainly not unheard of for this part of the country but its sure not unheard of .... looks like another day of watching college basketball and recorded movies

Awoke to 19° this morning and didn't even take the dogs out in that cold. It's supposed to get down into the low 20's tonight and then we'll have a gradual warming. Thursday it's supposed to get up to about 68° and rainy. I just had cereal and coffee for breakfast.

Good morning, and a Happy Hump day to you all.
It's a nice -3 here this AM, here in central W TN.
A nice 4 mph wind out of the south makes it feel like -10 Brrrrrrrrr.
Oh Ashley is percolating right along, Thank goodness.
But it is saying that we'll break the freezing mark later today.
We'll see, we haven't reached the predicted high yet this week.

My tractor wouldn’t start yesterday. It was slow to crank and I gave up on it before the battery went dead. In a another four days the highs will be in the position 30’s and I’ll try again. I plowed the driveway the day before so I was able to get out. The driveway needs more plowing at the top of the hill before I can get back in.

In the meantime I park at the bottom and walk the 300 yards to the van.

local schools delayed 2 hours yesterday due to fog .... local schools delayed 2 hours today due to black ice ... 17 degrees less than an hour ago, 23 degrees now .... only supposed to get up to 39 .... because of the delay, we need to take one of our grandsons to school this morning .... other than staying inside not much else on tap for today

Gene, I got my tractor started yesterday. I had put a 100w trouble light in the engine compartment as well as plugging in the block heater. I suspect your tractor would have a block heater being as you bought it there in Wisconsin. I also put my battery on a low amp battery charger and let all this run overnight. My tractor is in an unheated/uninsulated shed but that does help a little bit. Good luck.

It’s warming up with a current temp of 15 and a high of 24 expected. We got a couple of inches of snow overnight and right now it’s stopped for a bit. Then around mid morning it’s expected to start up again and get heavy. The forecast has been downgraded to 5-10”, hope so. This break gives me a chance to reload the firewood rack on the patio. Should have done it yesterday.

I don’t remember reading about it in the manual and haven’t found a plug in for it. Mine has to sit out in the elements till I build the garage this summer actually I could put it in the other garage but then would have to park the van elsewhere.

Im surprised the diesel fuel isnt gelling on you unless you have it heavily treated

Some of the schools in our area were delayed by 2 hours as well JEBar. It was 19° again this morning. No dog walk for sure. The wife's car wouldn't start so I had to take her to work. I don't have any work today so I'll just do whatever suits me. I do need to go to the compounding pharmacy and vet office to get dog meds. I cooked up some eggs, bacon, toast and coffee for breakfast.
