Howdy from Arizona

Post by Snakebit » Sat Nov 19, 2016 10:08 am

Joined here because I've decided I needed a lever action in my life. Don't know why but after my brother brought out dads old Winchester 94 a few years ago I can't get them out of my head. Decided the Henry would be the way to go. Trying to decide on BB 357 or 30-30 for deer or just bummin in the woods.

Welcome to the site from CT. You're gonna love your new Henry. I think the BB .357 is a great gun.

Welcome aboard Snakebit.
I fully understand the "need" for a lever gun. I wish my bank account could keep up with my needs/wants. I am leaning hard in the direction of a .357 carbine. But then there is the Small Game Carbine rimfire that keeps tempting me.
Damn Henry you aren't making this easy.
Load on Sunday and Shoot all Week.......okay it's a Mare's Leg I will reload on Wednesday. ;)

Welcome from West Central Indiana. You could always split the difference and get the BB 44 for your deer hunting.

Welcome from Northern Indiana. A 357 is a fine choice but I am with Starrider, and a bit partial to the 44mag.

You will enjoy either or both  Welcome to lever fever. No cure but another lever gun. :D

Welcome from the Show-Me-State!

My "vote" is for the .357 Big Boy Carbine; but any Henry will be a great acquisition!
Whatever you decide to buy, you'll be pleased with the Henry and also ready for the next one.
Have fun lever shopping! :)

Welcome from Indiana. I am with PT7, I am a .357 fan boy, but whatever Henry you choose, you can't go wrong.

Looking forward to a report to see what you decide on.

Welcome from the ridiculous state of California.

I love my big boy steel in 357 mag. Would like to try one out in a rifle caliber someday.

Thanks for the warm welcome from everybody. I'm a little east of Mesa in Apache Junction. To RS, my dad and brother mentioned in the OP were both seebee's. Dad was on Midway during WW2 and brother did one tour in Vietmnam 69-70 I believe. Me like a dummy had to go a different direction. Army. Any way did some shopping today so I'm going to the general forum with some questions. Thanks again

Welcome from the Shenandoah Valley, VA. You have found a great forum with friendly people. Can't go wrong with either a BB 357 or a 30-30 - both great rifles.
