Our Morning Coffee and Weather

It's a good morning. I've had a cup, it's 44 and sunny. Best of all, I woke up to a wonderful review of my book.


Reviews are the life's blood of indie authors. It takes 50 to break amazon's first advertising wall. Statistically, you get a review about every 250 sales. I'm doing considerably better than that, but it also means my sales are fairly slow. Debut novel, new author, in a niche genre... It all ads up to a lot of work on my part to get the book seen and entice people to read it.

today is off to a crunchy grass start from a heavy frost .... watching bowl games and a family birthday gathering late this afternoon are pretty much about all we have on tap .... we do plan to see 2024 roll in tonight

so much for making plans .... for the first time in a good while I didn't stay up to watch the New Year come in .... I found it hard to stay awake while watching the Green Bay Packers dominate the Minnesota Vikings and decided to get to bed .... Jan 1st dawned with a cool 37 degrees under a partly cloudy sky, with a predicted high of 51 .... no rain mentioned in the long range forecast until a 30% chance late this week .... Maureen and our daughter are already giving 3 pups well needed hair cuts .... black-eyed peas soaked overnight and will soon go into a crock-pot with with a ham bone saved from Christmas .... not much else on tap for today

64 degrees down here under the palm trees. They say the wind is going to blow this afternoon. Not much on tap today as I head to the pot for another cup of 8 o'clock coffee.

The new year started out right with espresso and a change from clouds/fog to some sun today. I’m playing beat the clock trying to get my shop expansion done before we see any snow. I’ll be framing the last two walls today, and then trying to get the roof done tomorrow. I’m a day behind after a lot of rain yesterday. It’s hard to be productive in rain/snow.

Dense fog and 33 out there. Probably won’t get much warmer unless the fog burns off to allow some sunshine. More of the same for most of the week and then maybe winter will show up this weekend.

Nothing on tap for today, I MAY watch those Washington Huskies play football tonight. As a die hard Washington State Cougars fan it’s hard to root (or even watch) the gridiron enemy.

Happy New Year! It was 61° this morning on the dog walk. It's only warmed up one degree since. A "cool" front came through. It got up to 74° yesterday and I got out on the Harley yesterday afternoon. It was a nice ride. Enjoy the football today. It's not all that interesting for me especially with the number of players going to the transfer portal (poor Floriday State) and opting for the draft. Hook'em Horns. (Oh, as a postscript glad my home state's Mizzou Tigers made a good showing against Ohio State. There's another example of what may have been if OS had their quarterback hadn't entered the portal and gone to Syracuse>)

I'm going for a breakfast with my neighbor this morning. We do this every
once in a while without the wives. We will of course solve all problems of
the world in this very important meeting.

31 now heading to the mid 30’s. Still dense fog out there, typical of weather we have in February. Does this mean we’re looking at an early spring? Sure hope so.

Mrs hatchdog has a doc appt this morning and as her driver I’ll be tagging along. Then we’re heading to the stateline for supplies and gas. Everything is less expensive in Idaho.

Coffee in the volunteer FD mug.
A new garbage disposal needs to be put under the sink. The old one started leaking. It was old and rusty. The new one is an insinkerator. Should go in easy enough.
I have been applying a coat of wax to the Coach guns. The .410 and the 20 ga so far. The 12 ga will get a coat today.

already up and at'um this morning .... 37 when we took our '05 Trailblazer to the local garage where we have it worked on .... its our daughter's daily driver and it shut down on her one day a week or so before Christmas .... after a few minutes she was able to restart it .... unsure if it threw any codes .... on the way home we picked up some groceries .... later today with no rain and a predicted high of 51, I hope to boil some collards to put in the freezer

44° this morning on the dog walk. It's warmed up to 51° at this posting. I cooked sausage, eggs, biscuits, and coffee for breakfast.

It was 60 when I got up and now at 67 with rain. Supposed to be cloudy and rainy for a day or two

Was out playin with the grandsons this afternoon and pulled/twisted some back muscles, pretty painful.
Took a muscle relaxer and have a tens unit doing it's thing.
It has eased up some.
