Custom grips
Custom grips
I like the stock birdshead grips. But, would like to put a set of custom grips on my revolver. I have talked with one grip maker about putting rams horn grips on my Bigboy revolver. He wants me to send him the gripframe. Only problem is he might take a year to get it back to me.

Re: Custom grips
That seems like a long time to me. I guess if they're backed up that far they must be pretty good at the craft.RichD64 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 8:26 pmI like the stock birdshead grips. Try Eagle Grips:

I bought from them years ago and was very happy with the quality. I bought Stag Grips for a Commander 45 and rosewood for a Colt Revolver.
Both fit perfectly and looked great.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...

Re: Custom grips
Will, before I'd consider sending off the frame for perhaps a year, sounds a bit excessive but.
I'd be taking it to the range to be sure I even like shooting it, before I'd do that.
Unless of course it's going to be just a show piece.

Re: Custom grips
Speaking of custom grips, I suddenly came to the realization that I have plenty of walnut, cherry , ash and oak . So I think I will try my hand at making some grips for some of my revolvers. If I screw it up , just grab another hunk of wood and try again.I have several trim routers and some pattern bits to cut out for the frame. I fitted the tiger maple stock and forearm to my heavy barreled rolling block and it turned about as good as can be so why not.
