Re: Ford Mach E Mustang SUV
It’s a neat car even thought it’s not for me. My main complaint is the name. If it were an American Quarter Horse I would like it better.

ICE Mustang owners are offended by the Mach E.
I’m a big guy and I just don’t fit well in the regular Mustang.
I fit just fine in the Mach E. It actually is a bigger interior than my Escape I drove for 10 years.

Re: Ford Mach E Mustang SUV
Drop the Mustang name and call it Boss 450 E. The battery has a 450 volt output!
Re: Ford Mach E Mustang SUV
450E I like it. Sounds powerful which I’m sure it is.fortyshooter wrote: ↑Thu Jul 06, 2023 8:51 amDrop the Mustang name and call it Boss 450 E. The battery has a 450 volt output!

Or Mach 450E. If they start catching fire they could call it a Pinto.fortyshooter wrote: ↑Thu Jul 06, 2023 8:51 amDrop the Mustang name and call it Boss 450 E. The battery has a 450 volt output!

Re: Ford Mach E Mustang SUV
Well, I have had the Mach E for a few days now and it has about 100 miles on it.
I'm learning how to set it up and navigate the touch screen as well as all the controls.
It has a Blue cruise mode that is a hands free mode like the Tesla. I don't know how I feel about using it.
It has a neat feature of drive modes that are fun. Whisper/Engage/Unbridled.
Whisper = smooth and quiet for long road trips.
Engage = Normal city driving.
Unbridled = FUN!!! It pushes you back in the seat when you hit the accelerator.
I'm going on a little road trip down the coast of SoCal today with my sister. No destination just a drive and we will see where we want to stop for lunch.
I will give you a report after the drive.

Beautiful day for a drive down the PCH.
Found a random Chinese restaurant in Dana Point for lunch.

It was a perfect 75 with a nice sea breeze today.
My Mach E was fun to drive . I was able to use a few different functions to see how I liked them.
Big thumbs up

I got the Premium model, RWD.
Not sure of the hp or torque, but it's fast and torquey.
I got the standard battery. I couldn't justify $8k more for 70 more miles.

Re: Ford Mach E Mustang SUV
The RWD models have 317 ft/lbs. My understanding is the torque of a electric motor is at maximum at almost all of it's RPM range unlike the torque curve of a internal combustion engine. Imagine what the acceleration would be with the Performance model with twice the torque.
With my limited driving, just around town and no long trips I wouldn't mind having an electric car but also with my limited driving and budget and my age I can't justify taking on a big car payment. My low mileage "06 Miata and my slightly older Ranger are paid for and should last me for as long as I'm going to need them.

So with some research my Mach E Premium has 317 ft torque and 266 hp.
It’s zippy as hell!
I can’t even imagine what the GT Performance addition AWD with 634 Lb torque and 480 hp would be like.
That scares me…

Took my first road trip.
370 miles home.
Long day for sure. It took 3 charge stops to get home. Each charge took about 45 minutes.
Met a lot of nice folks along the way. There was only one guy that was a bit of a pompous person.
Drive was fun but long….

Yep, the same thing happened here in Texas. There will be an additional license fee (tax) on all EV vehicles starting September 1.fortyshooter wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 3:08 pmDo you have to pay any special road use tax on it? Here in Va. they are planning on some kind of tax for EV's due to a shortfall in gas tax revenues.
They just raised the gas tax here July 1 a few cents.

The battery replacement cost is the scary part of these cars from what I've read.

Re: Ford Mach E Mustang SUV
Two and a quarter hours fueling time for 370 miles is a deal breaker for me. No matter how cool the car is it’s just not practical for my needs. Not when I can fill my gas tank in five minutes and go 500 miles.
I wouldn’t mind a much smaller vehicle like a GEM https://www.gemcar.com/. The eL XD would be more to my liking. The Washington State Parks use them and they were great around the parks. And I think they would be great around the rural countryside here in Wisconsin.

I get the negativity of the EV's. I never thought I would own a EV but under the circumstances the Mach E caught my eye.
Now that I'm home I will rarely have to use the public charging stations.
The Mach E is charging off my solar system right now.
I really don't take long road trips any more. This is a trip I haven't done in 4 years.
I had only driven 600 miles this year.
EV's are definitely not for most people and the public charging stations infrastructure needs to be increased 100 fold or more to handle the demand when the government require all new cars must be EV's.
I live in the SF Bay Area and we have more stations than most areas.
