I leave again for Alaska next Thursday for two weeks of camping and fishing.

84° with 85% humidity giving off a heat index of 96° this morning at 8:30. Getting ready to go to the oncologist visit this morning. I thought I was scheduled for an MRI but maybe that's what he'll do today. I just had cereal and coffee for breakfast.

56 and sunny this morning. We should see 80 later. Now that the weather has taken a turn for the better we’re packing up and heading home this morning. Despite the poor weather and the lack of fish we have had a great time. The maiden trip in this motorhome went off without a hitch. Tradition for me is to enjoy a few gin and tonics the last night in camp which I did. Also to enjoy a breakfast sandwich that my wife will fix here shortly. Gotta keep those traditions alive you know!

I was right. Oncologist scheduled me for an MRI. That will come later but the good news is if it comes back clean I won't have to see him again until December 2024!

with no wind damage. We really need the rain. Then rain is predicted for the next 48 hours.

I finished all the painting last evening and it looks fantastic. Today and tomorrow will be days to rest.

Back home in good ole’ Deer Park and it’s a refreshing 51 with a sunrise out there. 80 later and there’s been some whispers that we may see 90 by next weekend. Kids/grandkids are coming up from SoCal this coming Friday and they have rented a cabin on Lake Pend Orielle which is in Idaho about an hour’s drive north of our place. Should be great weather for them.

51 with a beautiful sunrise. We should see the low 80’s today. This weekend is Hoopfest in Spokane which is a huge 3 on 3 basketball tournament. It’s held in the downtown area and it can get pretty hot there with all the concrete and asphalt. All the streets are closed and the courts are located there so it gets hot. One year it was 105 on the thermometer at the airport which is much cooler than downtown. This year the weather is just about perfect for the event.

We received about a half inch with another half inch coming. We can sure use the moisture as farmers are beginning to loose crops.

I remember back when I could play tennis for several hours on a 100°day. Those days are long past, now I don't even want to go from my air conditioned house to my air conditioned car on a 100°day.

Summer here....had lots of rain and just missed some snow the other day. Mountains had some on top though. 80's this week and next weekend going to a Rendezvous and black powder shoot.

I think it was the "Broken Marine" who got me started on this knife making thing, anyway I've turned
out 8 or 9 so far and having fun doing it. Right now I'm finishing up a filet knife for my oldest daughter
and her hubby. She wants a walnut grip so I've got some local walnut I'm using.
It keeps me busy.

54 when I got up and the bright sun is making the temp climb quickly. Mid 80’s today with possible thunder boomers tomorrow. I’m going to fertilize the lawn today so some rain tomorrow will be a blessing. Hot hot hot coming this weekend with 90’s forecast. Our California family is coming up this Friday to spend the 4th of July holiday weekend at a lake about an hour north. Looks like the weather will be perfect for a lake visit.

well, now I'm building one for the Wife as the new motorhome isn't set up the same.

A tweak to a part time job gives me today off.

58 and partly cloudy now with 83 forecast for later. We might see some scattered/isolated thunderstorms later this afternoon. Playing golf today starting around 11:30 so we may see some weather. “When thunder roars grab a metal golf club and hope you don’t get fried” Not really, if we get lightning we’re off the course NOW.

90’s this weekend, should be a crazy 4th as the heat always brings out the foolish behavior in folks.

Another hot day on tap. We made it to 101° at the Sugar Land Airport yesterday. Today it is forecast to get to 100°. There's no rain in the forecast for the next week so we're back in the "Abnormally Dry" condition (June 20, without any rain since). It seems like we either have too much rain or a drought. I had cereal, toast and coffee for breakfast.

Good size grass/brush fire on the hillside about a mile from my place. I was not too worried as they had it pretty well contained on the side of the hill facing me, also have 2 roads between me and the fire . The other side had some Level 2 evacuations, they had 2 helicopters and then added 3 medium sized planes dumping water on it, also no wind helped. Only a couple of miles from the fire to the Columbia River so they were able to make a round trip pretty quickly, I can't see the fire now but judging from the amount of smoke I think they must have it contained and are just dropping water on some hot spots. Good thing as they are predicting gusty winds tonight.

Not looking forward to the 4th next week and all the idiots shooting off their rockets. All fireworks are banned in both counties and in Wenatchee and East Wenatchee but there are enough nearby Indian reservations that sell just about any fireworks made. The police never seem to be out writing tickets which would help. Maybe this large fire close to city will cut it down some, all the surrounding hills are tinder dry this year. Not likely though, there's idiots that live right next to areas just as dry as where today's fire was that will be shooting off their fireworks. At least there will be one large area that won't be available to catch fire this year.

There was a kid here years ago who started a fire setting off fireworks. He was caught and received a judgement of several million dollars against him for the cost of fighting the fire and the houses that burned to the ground. I would imagine his paychecks will be garnisheed for the rest of his life.

It's almost 8:00 p.m. and we still have 98° and a heat index of 108°. We need some relief but alas, the weather forecast is the same for the next week.
