2022 Hurricanes and Tropical Storms

Ours went out about 2. Finally came back on about 6:30. Got a look at the house and yard. Some minor fence damage, no damage to house.

I had the Generac all ready to go and bought gas a week ago filling several five gallon cans. But shiver me timbers our electric
blipped a few times but stayed on all though the storm. Funny thing I got a recorded voice mail from Duke Energy saying that there was an outage in our area and they had crews working on it. This i was the first storm that had not required running the generator for several days.

9PM and our power is still out .... the camper's generator is getting its exercise tonight

8AM and our power is still out .... still misting hard enough to require running vehicle wipers ... this morning I took a ride through our area that covered around 10 miles ... a good bit of storm debris in the road, nothing large enough be of a concern .... no power along the loop, could see some lights in the distance in a few places .... NO utility trucks seen anywhere along the way

Made it through with little damage except for a 80 to 100 ft oak tree that buried two cars and a tree limb through a windshield. Talk about bad breaks. One of the cars that was buried and the another car with the tree limb through the windshield were owned by the same family. They were about eighty ft. apart. We have power, just flickers during the night. Trees look a little thinner now.

Maureen just got back from Fuquay and they have full power over there .... glad y'all didn't have any major problems

our power is still out so we are settled in for another night in our camper .... drove over to Cracker Barrel for supper and on the way back saw a power truck a mile or so from our house .... that's the first repair people we've seen since the start of Ian .... that gives me some hope that we might get our power restored tonight or tomorrow

Happy some of you are avoiding the power issue and even happier those like Jim that have no power have a back up plan. Sounds like those reporting here avoided serious damage to property but I sure feel sorry for the family with two damaged cars.

Don’t know how close you are, but wife has Aunt and couple cousins that live in High Point NC. Haven’t heard from them so we hoping they didn’t have any problems. My Grandson, who just graduated Lineman’s school in July, is in NC helping with storm damage.

we awakened to another beautiful morning and the steady rumble of our campers Onan generator .... the high point so far came with checking Duke Progress Energy's website .... on their power outage map no day or time has been shown for when they anticipate power being restored in our area .... this morning they now say they anticipate having it restored at 11:45PM tonight .... our home is connected to county water so shortly I intend to run water from our home to the camper .... haven't done so before simply because of the hope the power outage wouldn't last very long .... our inconveniences are absolutely nothing compared to those who Ian devastated in Florida, South Carolina and other places it hit with much more force .... our area is no stranger to having named hurricanes/tropical storms pass through .... in my memory (which most certainly ain't all the infallible) Ian proved to cause much more damage than any other Category 1 I can remember

our power was restored just under an hour ago .... time since then has been occupied by unplugging and coiling long, heavy extension cords .... while we are happy to be well on our way to getting back to normal, we can't help but feel sorry for so many folks who it will take much longer to recover

Agree with your comments about those less fortunate but I happy you have power again.

a little over a week ago Ian knocked out the power in our area .... today it unexpectedly went out again .... this time for just under 4 hours .... the going cause seems to be cleaning up emergency repairs to where things should be back to normal operation

for our area Subtropical Storm Nicole ​appears to be next .... by the time it gets to us it may well be classified as a Tropical Storm or Hurricane .... current projections call for it to impact our area late Thursday through Saturday morning .... we are scheduled to camp with our club this weekend so we are following it closely .... they say it will be a rain, thankfully not wind, event

Dang, it's getting too late in the season to be worrying about a hurricane.

Sorry the storm’s heading your way but happy it won’t affect voting. What an unfortunate turn of events had the storm come ashore today.

Well, I don't expect much from this storm in our area, unless it does something weird. Forecast has it passing west of us after expending a lot of energy over Fl and Ga. Fortunately, I have the back yard clear from the storm in Sept. Just have to bring in the potted plants and bird feeders. I do feel for the folks in south Fl. They are still cleaning up from the Sept storm.

I remember getting a small hurricane come through just a few weeks after the devastating Hurricane Hugo in 89. The small one wouldn't have been much on it's own, but there were still a lot of damaged homes and debris left from the big one a couple weeks before. I remember having to ride the small one out at work.
