Our Morning Coffee and Weather

A cool 58° this morning. Hopefully it will stay cool enough to not have to run the AC. I cooked bacon, eggs, toast and coffee for breakfast.

Blustery monsoons blew themselves out overnight. Calm, overcast without rain at the moment and 45'. Started wood stove use this week. Hmmm. Seems like a good day to resume winterizing irrigation. At least before Tuesday when freezing temps expected.

40 but probably not getting much warmer than that today. We got 4” of snow yesterday but as forecast it turned to rain. As much rain as we received had it stayed snow we would probably have at least a foot. Then overnight it really warmed up. I got up once because I thought it was raining but it was just the snow on the roof melting and running into the gutters. I looked at the thermometer and it was 46.

I plowed my elderly neighbor’s place but didn’t even shovel off my own sidewalk to the house. Now it’s all melted. He he he…

But, the National Weather Service sent out a storm warming for 6-12” of snow Sunday morning thur Monday morning. We’ll see about that, seems like these big warnings usually peter out.

Over here about 150 miles to your west it did rain all day but we didn't get any snow. They were forecasting a few inches of snow through the first of the week but that's changed to "Little or no snow accumulation expected". Low temps forecast to be in the low teens for around a week which is below normal for this early in November.

A brisk 24 out there this morning with a high it the upper 30’s expected. The snow storm forecast for my area this morning has tracked north so our total accumulations has been reduced to 3-7”. This snow is expected tonight into Monday. Then the big cool down starts with lows maybe in the single digits and highs in the 20’s. Brrrrrr

Probably go out and rake some more pine needles today as the snow we got the other day is mostly gone. Yesterday I got the “bright” idea to get the nice clean ready for winter mower out and try to mow up needles on the lawn. We had a big wind storm and everywhere was just a carpet of needles. I mowed around the snow but got into it enough that it kept plugging up my bagger. Who mows snow? So I waited until the afternoon when more had melted and did pretty good. My clean for winter is no longer….

high today and tomorrow in the 80's .... after that highs forecasted to drop back into the 60's with the exception of Thursday when they say it will be in the low 70's with rain .... nothing much on our calendar until Thanksgiving

It was 60° this morning and has already warmed up to 81 degrees. Our AC started freezing the coils again yesterday so I'm going ahead and get it replaced. I think this one was put in 2014 so that's about as long as they last down here. I just had cereal and toast this morning.

the last in our string of unseasonably warm days is on tap ..... currently 66 on its way to 82 this afternoon with a 44% chance of rain .... a steady string of much lower highs in the forecast, a week from now they will settle in the 50's .... they are calling for a high tomorrow (election day) of 68 with a 4% chance of rain .... we are scheduled to camp with our club this coming weekend, the weather forecast for that time period is "interesting"

Woke up to 28 and snow. Prediction is for 2-4” by noon and then tapering off. Next comes the big chill and Deer Park has predicted lows in the single digits Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Highs in the 20’s all week. Unlike last week’s snow today’s accumulation will be sticking around for a while.

Heading over to my son’s place this morning to help him put his snowblower attachment on his garden tractor. First time for both of us doing this. He tells me he has all the prep work done and only needs help with some heavy lifting. Thankfully he has a nice shop to work in other than it still has a gravel floor. And with the price of concrete these days his floor will probably stay gravel.

Coffee in a scout mug today.
The power was out for a bit yesterday. After the cable line break last week and a couple of hour power outage, it sure makes one aware how we become used to our electricity and internet.
I took the occasion to sit on the deck and enjoy an adult beverage. I used one of my Dietz lanterns that usually is just decoration. It gives nice light. I sat peacefully and recalled how technology has changed us all.
Some work around the house today.

My father told me to go into the undertaker or concrete business when I was a young man. He said either way I'd never be out of a job. I should have believed him and took the advice. Cooked bacon, eggs, toast and coffee this morning.

Time for coffee...the weather is still warm for the next two days before winter shows up. Today filled up with visit to heart doc. Will get a nice meal at my sister and brother in laws and will enjoy seeing them (they live near the town where my doc office is at).
Off to the coffee pot i go for now!!! Hope everyones day goes well.
