Weatherman says good rain coming tomorow and next day. I am very pleased. Coffee tastes good again this morning. All quiet. My brother is coming down to help check and set deer stands. We can do that in the rain, or we can wait out the rain showers in some gun shops....

35 heading to around 50 later. A neighbor is having an outdoor chili cook-off this afternoon and it looks like we will have a nice break in the weather for it. Yesterday I got the sprinkler system blown out and put to bed for the winter. And this morning we had our first fire in the wood stove. Now I have to reverse the ceiling fans to the winter mode. Of course this will initiate a blade dusting.

Warmer fall weather is back. It was 70° this morning at around 6:30 and on its way to 90° today. I cooked bacon, eggs, toast and coffee for breakfast.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
After church we stopped for brunch at a local bar and grill. The food was good, the price was right,
the only thing was this young man who came in after parking his Harley and sat down in front of us
with a obscene picture and phrase on the back of his shirt. I mean very obscene.
I spent years in the study of Psychology and am always wondering about peoples intentions by
observing them quietly. It's kinda my hobby now.
He had a drink, went in and out of the building a few times, then abruptly fired up his Harley and left.
His appearance was unkempt. Long hair, (which I don't mind as I do that myself at times), but it was
unkempt. His beard was also ragged.
He didn't bother anyone, he just came and left. There were several families there having family
breakfasts as a group. Small children all the way up to their Grandparents.
My guess is that he wanted attention. I suppose if someone had challenged him he would love that
as well as it would draw attention to him.
Everyone ignored him.

Although I try to keep myself clean and presentable, there are those who do not place a high priority on their appearance. To each their own.
However, to enter an establishment where decent people and especially children are present while sporting obscene clothing, is unacceptable. Not illegal, but unacceptable in my book.

I don't understand it either. I saw a guy wearing a hat that just had the f-word on it, no statement or anything, just the f-word in letters so big they barely fit on the hat.
I know several people who can't speak a single sentence without using it. I think it's a generational thing, it's how they heard their parents talking and it's how their kids hear them talking. I worked at elementary school for many years and you would be surprised at the amount of swearing some kids use at recess, they do seem to know it's not acceptable in the classroom.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
another really nice fall day ... 70 degrees, no rain .... its been a busy morning, well at least busy when you consider that very little has happened ..
.. cleaned and packed up our mini chainsaw .... main concern is where to store it .... don't much want it in the house but it would be better for the batteries to keep it in a heated area .... its manual says to charge the batteries once a month, don't know that I'm likely to do so .... took our Davy Crockett smoker/grill along with its accessories out of the camper's basement and moved it back into our garage .... not a difficult task but did take a little time .... not anticipating a busy week but a medical appoint is in the mix

After shooting at sunrise this morning I drove the motor home up and back on the new gravel to compact it. Then at noon I started hanging up lights. I finished just before sunset

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Yep a 24 footer. I hired a local and he was going to do it yesterday. The problem is he just got paid for a previous job and didn’t show up or even call. Two other people were going to have him do small projects and they aren’t now. No one has heard from the guy since Friday. Some are saying they think he has the whiskey flu.markiver54 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 23, 2022 8:14 pmIt looks great Gene! Beautiful pic.

Unfortunately, there are many out there that suffer from that flu. I'm hoping my contractor/helper comes next Saturday to help me hang two new kitchen wall cabinets.
You, are more brave than I. I don't do ladders anymore. Kudos to you for the successful chore. Looks fantastic...be safe.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Lights look good. Are you going to take them down after the Holidays or leave them up? I have quite a few outside led lights that I leave on all year, being led's the cost of having them on all night is negligible.
I still do ladders but a lot slower and more carefully than I used to. I picked fruit several seasons in my 20's and would stand on the top step of a 14 ft. orchard ladder while wearing a cherry bucket.
My mom and older brother (he is 12 years older than me) told me they once looked out the window and although I was barely walking they saw me climbing a ladder leaning against the neighbor's garage, he ran out and grabbed me before I could get onto the roof. I must have been pretty young as I have no memory of it. I do remember climbing multiple trees around the neighborhood when I was a kid.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
I’m leaving them up all year. I ordered a dimmer dusk to dawn sensor so I can tone them down to 75%, 50% or 25% brightness. I was a mountaineer when I was younger and have a good balance and not afraid of exposure.dave77 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 12:02 amLights look good. Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
It rained last night which is good for my gravel driveway. The gravel is covered with clay and it washes it down and locks the gravel into place. It also clean the surface so I don’t get dirty shoes.
It was in the 70’s yesterday and I was in a T-shirt doing the house lights. I ended up with a little more tan.

44 this morning. Heading towards the 80’s today. Wife and I got the deal tore down this weekend, all by our selves! I’m sore in places I’d forgot could be sore. Won’t be doing much for at least a day or so. Maybe a little clean up today. Gotta keep moving best we can.
