Favorite movie/series firearm?
Re: Favorite movie/series firearm?
Combat
Rat Patrol
Now those titles tickled some memories. As I kid I was fascinated with WW II shows. Loved both of those.

Oh, I forgot Mississippi's shotgun pistol in El Dorado. It was too cool. Holster and everything.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

Re: Favorite movie/series firearm?
I like the Rifleman series also. The rifle he used in the show that was in the 1870-1880 period is the rifle that replaced the Win. 1873. That rifle was not produced until 1892 and is a Win. Model 92. Designed to handle the short pistol cartridges of that period. 32-20, 38-40, 44-40. I believe when the 92 model 44-40 was introduced the 44-40 may have still been loaded with black powder. In 1895 they started chambering the 92 in 25-20 and in 1936-'38 they were chambered for 218 Bee. At least that is how the story goes. Never saw one chambered for the 218. Lucas's rifle was a Model 92 44-40. The 92 has forward dual locking lugs which actually makes it a stronger action than the rear lug action of the 94 Win. The strength of the 92 action allows cartridges of high pressures like the 454 Casull to be chambered in new models based on the 92 action. Hollywood pays little attention to time period correct in the movies. Watch the Big Valley that was 1880's period and you will see Marlin's with the Bullseye in the butt stock that didn't start until 1922.

When all else fails...nuclear bombs seem appropriate. Sign on the bomb bay doors of an alert B-52 during the Cold War.
