Our Morning Coffee and Weather

56 up here in the last day at camp. Another beautiful blue sky and yesterday’s wind is gone. We celebrated our last night here with our big dinner. Bought these prime cut New York steaks from the local butcher in Deer Park ($33.50 for the two ). Put them on the grill along with grilled potatoes and grilled corn on the cob. I have a picture of them grilling but so far it won’t transfer to my ipad with the limited cellular signal up here. Looks like the chef might have also enjoyed a gin and tonic (or two ). Gotta get off this keyboard and start packing up to head home.

Rally, like bike rally? Do you go to Sturgis?

Nothing so exciting as Sturgis. It's Winnebago Grand National Rally at the factory.

It happens every year in July. Winnebago owns their own camp ground with an ampi theatre and an amusement park for the kids.
We've attended many times already, but always with grand kids. This will be the first time for just the two of us.
Not very exciting, but fun.

I wrote a post here earlier and it didn't show up......I'm confused. Anyway, here the recap: It's hot, humid and all-around miserable outdoors. I'll stay inside today. The second rant was years ago the Tx voters were sold a bill of goods and passed a law to deregulate electricity. The idea being that competition would bring down costs. My current contract expires at the end of the month and I was paying 9.3¢ per KW/hr. The cheapest plan offered on the market is now 18.22¢ per KW/Hr. I'm pretty much having to pay double of what I paid last year. The cost table on the Energy Ogre web site predicts my yearly electric bill under this new contract will be $5,275. Other than that, I had cereal and coffee for breakfast.

Ouch, my county PUD charges $12.95 a month and 2.7¢ per kWh. The PUD owns 2 dams on the Columbia and is non-profit. My place isn't that big but it's all electric and my monthly Winter bill is usually around $150 and Summer bill is around $100.
Also it's grid is very well maintained, power outages are very rare and when they do occur they are usually fixed within a couple of hours.

Getting into those dog days of summer around here. 90 and then mid 90's all next week with plenty of humidity. Unless I setup a small window A/C unit in my shooting cabin and shot out the window....not much range time for a while. Still have to cut the grass down there though and then go.

Back home again and woke up to 57. Interesting as the overnight low was forecast to be 44. Thought that was a bit low for this time of the year. High is around the low to mid 80’s. Currently watching the Open golf tourney from the UK which is a nice way to avoid all the work ahead of me putting the trailer and boat away after a good washing. Maybe tomorrow as when the golf is over at 11:00 my time I have an alfalfa field (my lawn) that needs a trim. Stupid me fertilized a few days before leaving for a week.

Had a great time and our pup did very well living in the small trailer for the week. His first trip.

Woke up to 78* with heat index of 85*. supposed to get up to 102* with HI of 110. Next 10 days are forecasted to be over 100*+ with 107 the highest real temp. The dogs are being walked @ the crack of dawn and let out to back yard on as needed basis. It looks like a strong hurricane is needed in the Gulf to move this dome of high pressure off of us.

Try and stay cool and keep well hydrated.

It's 88° this morning at 10:45 a.m. The dogs got me up at the usual time this morning for their walk. I watched a bit of TV and went back to sleep. I felt tired for some reason, and I rarely do that. Anyway I did have bowl of cereal and some coffee beforehand. Don't know how hot it's going to be but probably too hot.

Was planing on digging out our irrigation ditch again this morning but a couple of the younger guys that also use it went up yesterday afternoon and got it done, amazing the amount of sand and silt that had built up in it in just a month. It's only 80 right now so I'm heading out to mow the lawn and set some sprinklers. May make a trip to Costco after lunch. I always say I'm only going to get a few necessities but usually end up spending a couple hundred bucks, will be taking the Miata as no AC in my truck so that does limit the amount and size of what I buy.

Well, that's the weather at home. We're now in Forest City, Iowa for a week.
The weather here is about the same. It's going to be a hot one today.
Right now there are about 900 RVs here and the party has begun.
The Winnebago heat of marketing at the opening ceremony last night announced
that they had recently manufactured the five hundred thousandth RV. Wow! Half a million.

Saw a big mess of thunder and blitzen (as my mom used to call it) moving north out of Idaho and heading your direction. For us, it stayed to the east and we have a real nice morning at 54. Only heading to 77 later due to this storm system that brushed my area. As I type this there is a nice cool breeze coming in the front door. Hot again after today with the high on Wednesday forecast to be 92. Yuk

Taking the pup to the groomers and then making the short trip to Priest River Idaho to meet a guy I sold a red dot sight to. Probably head out here shortly and get the trailer prepped to go back into storage for a few weeks. Next trip is scheduled for the first part of August.
