Toothache

I came down with a toothache this afternoon like I haven't had in years.My Dentist is on vacation but luckily another dentist can see me in morning at 10:15. Guess I'll see how that goes.

I'm having some pain in one of my molars that just recently had a new crown. Only hurts when I chew on that side so I'm thinking a root canal will be needed. Need to get back to the dentist and see what he says. I'm hoping I can put up with it until next year if possible. My insurance pays 80% of root canals but after 2 new crowns this year I only have $500 left of my yearly maximum and will also need another cleaning and exam this year so probably close to $1000 out of pocket if it's done this year.

You have my condolences, Ive had a few broken bones some serious burns and plenty of other injuries where the first thing they want to do in ER is feed you pain killers. I have never felt the pain was enough to warrant taking anything. A serious tooth ache I will be taking everything I can get my hands on and begging for more.

Most times if I have a tooth bothering me, I put it off til my next cleaning appointment and let him look then. My cleaning is next month, but waiting a month wasn’t an option this time.

Not a happy guy tonight. Been seeing same dentist over 30 years but after today I think its time to find another one. He's on vacation so I saw another one in same office. Took x-rays but didn't want to do anything since he wasn't my dentist. tooth is infected so he gives me prescription for antibiotic. My dentist can't see me til July 18. They give me name of the two Endodontics in Montgomery. They booked til mid August. So I called the endodontist office in Birmingham I had been referred to a good while back. They going to see me in morning. Good 2 hour drive to Birmingham tomorrow. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think after 30 years and hurting like I am, infection, someone in the office could have done something. Gonna be a long night.

A bit of luck the antibiotics will quickly get rid of the infection and reduce the pain.

Been there. In the mean time, Ibuprophen works wonders. Toothaches are hell.

I've been there. Particularly on a weekend when dentist's are closed. I've taken a bit of whiskey and soaked the tooth in it. It works for awhile. I was at sea and the only thing I could do was put a Tylenol pill on the tooth and crunch down. This works best for pain, but it ain't good for the tooth I guess. It works though.

Dentist in B"ham prescribed a stronger antibiotic for 2 weeks. Finally able to eat a decent breakfast this morning. I was even thinking for a couple days there if maybe the vet could do something for me.
