another morning in the upper 30's, looking forward to it getting into the low 70's later today .... no rain .... had to make an unexpected drive this morning to pickup our 6 year old grandson at his school .... he was sick ... the good news a visit to the bathroom seems to have taken care of what ailed him .... on my last cup of Folgers for today, finishing it is about all I have on my agenda ..

40 heading to 52 with rain overnight and more predicted for today with some possible thunderstorms. Not sure what I’ll do today but I sure would like to get some fertilizer on the lawn before it rains again.

We took a trip up north yesterday and checked out our property. Not as bad as I thought but of course the worst place is right where we park our trailer. We’ll have to go up for a day and clean this spot up before taking the trailer up there. Somewhere behind all the Thistle there is a gravel RV pad.

We checked out the boat launches on the Columbia River and the four closest to our place are all not usable due to the water level. The reservoir is currently at 1248 ft above sea level and these launches require 1277 ft which is nearly full pool. I understand it won’t be until late June until the reservoir is brought up to full. Fortunately there is a launch a bit further away (20 miles or so) that will remain usable to 1220 ft. The only time the water drops that far is when the Grand Coulee Dam needs maintenance. That’s only happened once in the last 30 years that I can recall. I should have taken a picture, it’s pretty desolate looking when the water is as low as it is right now.

50° clear sky's. Going up to 79°. Working on the 1st cup of joe, sausage eggs and toast us what's for breakfast. Didn't get to the yard yesterday, so today I'm going to mow. I've got to fill all the bird feeders also. The 1st Hummingbird made his appearance yesterday morning, and he's hear again at the sane time. Glad to see there back. Last night the air waves were working great. I talked to 3 stations in Italy, 2 in Slovenia, 1 in the Czech Republic , Texas, and France. Cheers!

another beautiful morning in the neighborhood .... 51 on its way to 82 under a clear Carolina Blue sky .... time to put jeans back in the closet and for the shorts to come back out .... no rain mentioned through the weekend .... hauling trash this morning and a Red Cross blood donation on tap for after lunch

A warming trend bringing T-Storms today and tomorrow.

Shop work today. I managed to find the short yesterday and have my yard light working again.
Spring is really slow in coming this year. If I get a break in the rain I may put the dock in.
I need to find a source for some prime beef filets. It's the son in laws birthday tomorrow and
that's his favorite thing. In this grass fed beef craze it's really hard to find really good filets.
If you grew up eating only grass fed, you were hood winked. Corn fed beef is far superior in flavor.
Of course they convinced everyone that grass fed is healthier, nonsense! All hype!

30 heading to the mid 50’s with sunny skies and fog in the river valley below the ridge I live on. Makes for a pretty sight.

Planning on fertilizing the lawn today while the pups at day care. So yesterday I turned the sprinklers on and of course it’s now 30 with a forecast of 27 tonight. Oh well, I’ll cover the copper pipe that comes out of the house and everything is underground so should be fine for the hours the temp falls below 32.

A warm 76° headed to 85° or so for this afternoon according to the weather. Going to the range this morning to shoot the .308 at 200 yards. I'm not settled in on this rifle yet. It will be the third or fourth time I've shot it. If I do okay I'll keep it and if not I'll get the Savage BVSS. There's some of them in stock now. I have the BVSS in 22-250 and it's a tack driver. Cooked eggs, bacon, toast and coffee this morning.

I have a custom .308 built around a Mauser action and I hate the recoil. (I'm getting old and fragile).
I do love my .220 Swift in a Ruger M77 round top with a varmint barrel. I can put three in a dime at
100 yards all day long with it.
Bigger is not always better, usually, just not always.

Having been around a Winchester 338 win mag and a Ruger Red Label over and under shotgun in 12ga recoil on these 2 guns was bad. The shotgun hit me in the cheek bone wrong and the Winchester was just brutal to shoot. They both went away quickly

I have two Red Labels, 12 gauge and a 20. I shoot them both with no problem.
I've done a lot of league shooting with them and not all shotguns fit all people.
They just happen to fit me well. I've shot quite a few perfect rounds with them.

My 20 gauge is straight skeet barreled while the 12 gauge has choke tubes.
My 20 gauge is one of the first produced. I purchased it in 1977 or 78. It has the blued receiver.
The 12 gauge is stainless.

Raning here but supposed to be a nice weekend in the 50's....will burn some black powder. Anxious to see if I can get 'er dialed in better.

I purchased both those guns when they were first available. I think they are not fancy, but are well engineered.
There was a story, which I believe is true, that Bill Ruger was sitting with several gun writers and experts at his
mountain cabin drinking whiskey, when he took a Red Label proto type, loaded it, put it on safety, and then taking
it by the barrel destroyed it by slamming it on the floor. It was said the Elmer Keith was under the table by that
time.

The guns have independent hammers and pass through safety's that safety the hammer and not the trigger. Each
hammer has it's own coil spring as well. I have had the spring on my 20 gauge get weak and I sent it in to Ruger for
repair. It came back quickly with no charge.

I think Henry may be modeling their company after that of Ruger.

48F and thick ground fog. With the warmer weather I’m driving my can up to Phillips to look at outside furniture. Currently I have no where to sit or have a table for shooting.

Hey Gene, are you a fisherman? You live in one of the best fishing areas in the US.
We used to go up to the Flowage every Summer for Walleye and Crappie.
Your first Summer living there you will be amazed at all the stuff there is to do.

Woke up to 30 which is better than the 27 that was forecast. Supposed to be in the mid to upper 50’s today with sunshine.

Good day to work outside and take the pup for a hike so that’s what I’ll do.
