Picked up a 410 lever action shotgun

Post by Hatchdog » Mon Jan 17, 2022 9:44 am

Yesterday we decided to take the pup out for some socialization at the feed store (North 40) in north Spokane. My wife wanted to get him a new Kong toy and this store has a large pet department. Also this store has a large sporting goods department with a big gun selection. Of course every time I go into a store that sells guns I check for the Henry 410 lever. Walked back to the rear wall where the guns are and there it was, the 24” blue/wood 410 right in the front of a row of long guns. Man, I felt like Ralphie from the movie The Christmas Story.

My wife wandered by and I showed her the shotgun and all she said was, “happy birthday” HA!

Anyway, home it came and today I plan to remove the bolt and give it a good cleaning. I have the bat signal out on the local trader page for some 410 ammo but man it’s scarce around here. Can’t even check to make sure it cycles correctly.

Anyway here it is, 24” interchangeable chokes with the walnut stock. Yesterday I ordered the mag tube limiter to make it legal for hunting here in Washington State. (3 total including one in the chamber) Of the three Henry makes this one was my first choice.

Here’s a pic of the Henrys all standing at attention ready for orders.

Nice pickup Hatch, and it even has the side load, sweet.
If we were closer, I could share some ammo, got a few hundred laying around.

Nice group of Henrys, but what about that Winchester there?

It’s a late 50’s 94 in 30-30 that belonged to my dad. As soon as I pick up my Henry 30-30 the Winny will be going to my nephew.

You'll love it. Don't be afraid to work the level with some force. My only jambs came from someone lightly working the lever.

Nice rifle! Live ammo is a must. But, dummys will work for function test:

Good find! I guess you won’t be making a road trip to Arizona now. Good luck finding 2 1/2” 410.

Awe shucks, I was looking forward to some warmer temps and some sunshine. :(

Price was $849 which is what I have seen online and in the neighborhood of the Bass Pro shop in Mesa.

GFK, thanks for the link to the snap caps. I’ll pick some up.

Fine looking lever 410 Hatch! I have 1 box of Fiocchi 410 ammo but no 410 shooter....yet. Bought it a good while back for making .45-70 shot shells.

That IS a good looking .410 Hatch! Hope you can locate some shells for it. Like the way it was green lighted at the store. Excellent!
