heavy rain and high winds overnight .... along with the wind and rain, temperatures have taken a dive .... currently 49 and that's as warm as its supposed to get today .... pictures shown below were taken out our back door ... after a rain we are used to seeing a half inch or so of standing water in the low point behind our camper .... it takes a dandy rain to extend that puddle to where it is shown under our camper .... strong wind advisory with a possibility of snow .... wide spread flooding reported in Raleigh .... we have to drive up there for a medical appointment shortly after lunch, will have to call to make sure they will be open .... bacon, eggs, Folgers to kick off the day

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Enjoying the first sleet/snow fall for 2022 right now in Central Va. Enjoying since I don't have to be in it and now taking down all the inside Christmas
decorations. Maybe 1-3 inch before it moves out. Finally had a great Christmas yesterday evening with my son and his family at our house!

26 heading to 32. It was snowing when I got up but it has stopped for now. The local meteorologist I follow says the models have fallen out of agreement overnight so our big snowstorm may be a bit less than forecast. Hope so.
We have been trying to get our backyard fenced for three months now and the contractor finally called yesterday and said maybe in two weeks. Could be interesting with all the snow and now the frozen ground. I’m going to snow blow the fence line so they can get in and install it. Hope they have a powerful auger, there’re going to need it.
Ozark, 13* is cold in anyone’s book. Brrrrrrr, hope we’re done with that for the year.

We got around 3 inches last night so pretty close to what they predicted, snowing very lightly now so I'm headed out to plow my driveway. They're predicting another 3 to 6 inches Wed. night and Thursday. 25⁰ right now, they say 39⁰ high on Friday which will be nice after the recent cold snap. I like to see all the snow in the mountains, hopefully it will stick around longer than last year with the dry, very early and hot Summer we had.

What you all are experiencing in the South we call a mild day with a dusting of snow. Sorry.
Planning to go to a Vets coffee this morning.
40 mph winds tonight with a couple inches of snow. Yesterday it was in the twenties and folks were
walking around with sweaters.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
All that snow is now crusty iced up. Roads a slick mess and schools closed plus some freezing rain showers early tomorrow morning.
I-95 North and South completely shutdown just north of Richmond with hundreds of folks stranded. I'm staying inside till afternoon when I will try to thaw out the wife's car.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Surprise, surprise, surprise.]
Yesterday I took down the temporary dog kennel I put up last fall. This included removing some T-posts and in doing so I found the ground is not frozen. Apparently we had enough snow on the ground to insulate it from the single digit temps we have had recently. So I decided to wait on removing the snow from the fence line keeping the insulating blanket in place. I’ll do it the day before they plan on starting the install.
After a warm day yesterday hitting 33 this morning we have 15 with a high of 28 on tap. Light snow today, a break tomorrow and then a potential big dump Wednesday night and Thursday. Then on Friday a big warmup so it’s going to be a mess.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Forty, you got our weather. It's just in the 20's here. only a trace of snow on the ground here. It might stay close to 29 or 30 for the rest of the day, but the sun is out full.
Coffee is a mix of Chockfullonuts and A Jamacian coffee. Turned out pretty good. It's in the Mary Lou's News mug.
I've been out already and back home snug, warm enough and drinking coffee. Split pea and ham soup on the stove flavoring away. Perfect for a cold day. I will probably make biscuits to go with it.
I hope your day goes well. Enjoy it.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
26 heading to 28 for the top out. Had another inch of snow overnight and we have a Winter Storm Warning in place for tonight thru Friday early morning. We’re predicted to receive 5-10” of snow at my place and even more for those nearer the mountains. Then Friday a big warm-up with possible rain on top of all that snow. That my friends will make a mess. Wish it would just stay cold.
Today I’ll do some preps for the pending storm doing some light clearing in places like the roof edges. I have a shed with shingles so it doesn’t shed the snow like my others with metal roofs. That will need some attention. Had another neighbor wanting me to plow, don’t understand why folks live here if they can’t take care of their needs. Had another new one who wanted the guy who plows the main road to put the snow berm on the opposite side of the road from her driveway. She didn’t understand that the plow runs in both directions.
These folks move here from large cities loving the area then winter hits. HELLO!
Okay, rant off……

Folgers and granola.
Wind gusts to 40mph today causing a severe wind chill.
It's January in Minnesota. We always have this cold weather time to deal with, but once it's over then
it's time for the wet snow of February. All normal.
Got some lamps to fix in the shop today.
These folks could contract with some company to keep this plowed, but they choose to ask for a favor.
I plow the city refugees next door and he contributes money to cover expenses which is fine with me. I'm not in the business.

Tell me about it. I was asked to plow out a place where no one lives so the propane truck could get in. I did.Hatchdog wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 9:44 amHad another neighbor wanting me to plow, don’t understand why folks live here if they can’t take care of their needs. Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Mid 20s going to the mid 30s.
Coffee in the Farmall mug this morning.
I had a complete breakfast of eggs, toast , juice and coffee this morning. Unusual for me.
I'm headed out to de-ice the driveway because snow is forecast. It will only make it more slippery with snow on top of the ice. Nothing a big bag of salt won't take care of.
I hope everyone has a great day.
