I was curious about Unique as well. I found a 44 Rem. Mag load for the 250 cast using Unique on the Alliant website (Reloader's Guide). They show a max charge of 11.0 grains for a lever action.Rifletom wrote: ↑Sun Aug 08, 2021 2:44 pmI use Unique in .45 Colt, .45 auto and .38 spl. Works real well in those. But, in a .45-70 case, I'll let the guys here who load those give you the complete answer. That'a a good size case.Kissmybrass wrote: ↑Sun Aug 08, 2021 12:41 pmI hear and read a lot about Unique in a lot of different calibers, rifle and pistol. Seems you need 1/3 or even 1/4 of what you would usually use in other powders. So is that OK to have all of that air space in the cartridge? Do they ever misfire?

.44 Rem. Mag. 250-gr cast (Keith), Unique, CCI 300 primer, Speer case, 1.710" min OAL, 11.0 gr max charge, 1211 fps velocity. Page 63.
But they don't show a Unique load for the 45-70. They suggest Reloder 10X with a 300 grain FNHP in a lever action rifle, Page 95.
You can look them up here. https://www.alliantpowder.com/resources ... oCrops.pdf
Hope that helps.

Was going to go to the range today and take my AR10 only to realize I was low on 308 ammo. So decided to put together 100 rounds of 308 and will go on Wednesday. Those should keep me busy for awhile.

50 more 45-70s!
30 Missouri coated and 20 Grizzly gas checks. 300 grammas
(I now see the benefits of an automatic powder measure)
