It looked like Dad knew what he was doing and is pretty muscled up. Here's some data about the rifle and the round that wasn't included in the video.

https://greatamericanoutdoors.com/2021/ ... o-express/

I plugged the numbers (1000gr, 2000fps) into JBM calc, but couldn't find a BC for the bullet, so I gave it a .9. The rifle is basically a sub-200yd gun with the standard load. Drop is about 8" at 200yds and over 26" at 300yds. I suspect that the avg. range for elephant/rhino, etc. is probably under 100yds, so that's acceptable. :)

Nice gun but I wouldn’t want to shoot it for recreation, dads parting words.

That gun is a beast. But then, so is his dad. I wouldn't want HIM pissed at me, even without a weapon. :D He handled the recoil like a pro, but was secure enough to admit he wouldn't want to shoot that bad boy for fun. :P

Go Dad. ;)
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Only have one elephant gun in my safe, it is a 375H&H.
Nothing like the big NE, falls just short of 5000ft/lb but is the mandated minimum for elephant in most countries.
It really is quite versatile, with lighter weight projectiles trajectory is the same as a 30/06. Like a lot of medium and big bores it is surprisingly accurate often putting 3 shots under 1" at 100y. I dont think anyone shooting bigger bores shoots 5 shot groups. lol
Have a 270gr cast load for it that also shoots very well, it is comparable to a 150gr 308 load in power and recoil. 8" drop at 200y but out to 150y it is point and shoot.
