Although he got the date wrong, here's what John Adams had to say about our Independence Day Celebration:

July 4, 1776 is significant because that is the day Congress officially adopted the Declaration of Independence document. However, the second Continental Congress actually voted for independence on July 2. In a letter to his wife, Abigail, John Adams predicted that future generations would celebrate July 2 as Independence Day, saying, "The second day of July, 1776, will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illumination, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore."

So, if you can, get your guns out and fire a few rounds. Even tho ammo is expensive and some calibers impossible to replace at the moment, I will be shooting out back while the smoker is working on that pork butt I started on before dawn this morning.

I know a lot of you despise NASCAR, but at Road America today darn near every turn has a Henry billboard on it.
100,000 fans and lots of campers and tail gating. Wish I was there, except it's damn hot.

Kyle Bush started dead last due to using his back up car and he just took the lead. He won the race yesterday.
