Yep, online may be an option. Prices may not be great. Yet, it is an option:

Online ammo shopping a no go here. That blows because we can't take advantage of awesome sales!

I'm guessing they still require a F.O.I.D card there, even for ammo purchases?Dahliathemeh wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 12:19 pmOnline ammo shopping a no go here. That blows because we can't take advantage of awesome sales!

Re: Ammo supply good in your ‘hood?
4 days ago I stopped by our local Walmart and they didn't have a single bullet/shell of any caliber in stock .... stopped again today and that is still the case
Re: Ammo supply good in your ‘hood?
Stopped at LGS today and bought Hornady XTP 240 gr 44 cal bullets for $30/ 100, Hornady 115 gr 9mm critical defense for $30/ 25, and CCI large and small pistol primers for $7 /100. Had 12 ga no 8 shells and bags of buckshot as well as Remmington range ammo 9mm for $24/box. No Henrys and light on pistols but not too bad on long guns and shotguns.

Re: Ammo supply good in your ‘hood?
No online ammo purchases hear in NYS either. Some ammo is trickling in, but prices are very inflated. Reloading components are like hen’s teeth and gun shops are also far and few between.

According to this outfit (Southwick Associates) that tracks this kind of thing, it's not going to get better any time soon.
https://www.southwickassociates.com/new ... consumers/
Other news and press releases from Southwick:https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/south ... ories-low/
From their press release . . .
Ammunition consumers indicate that demand will remain strong well into 2021. According to Southwick Associates’ ongoing shooting sports consumer market research, multiple reasons are driving the continued unparalleled demand.
In April 2021, Southwick Associates surveyed more than 1,800 ammunition consumers as part of its quarterly HunterSurvey/ShooterSurvey tracking study. In 2020, four out of five consumers encountered out of stock issues while trying to purchase ammunition, while three-quarters encountered out of stock situations so far in 2021. Of these respondents, 79% reported either fully or partially reducing their target shooting and hunting outings as a result of depleted ammunition shelves.
Going forward, ammunition demand is expected to remain high. Nearly two-thirds of ammunition consumers report their current ammunition inventory was lower than they would prefer. When asked how much more ammunition they would like to have on hand, 43% reported “much more” while 38% reported “a little more.” Only 17% were satisfied with the amounts they currently had on hand.

— Stephen Gutowski (@StephenGutowski) May 23, 2021
When asked why they desire more ammunition, key reasons included:
Uncertainty about future ammunition supplies (72%). This is especially true among consumers 45+ years of age.
Uncertainty about future restrictions on ammunition purchases (70%).
Uncertainty about future economic conditions (54%).
Increased shooting and hunting activity (26%). This was more common among the 25-34 year-old consumers.
“At some point, demand will certainly soften,” reports Rob Southwick, President of Southwick Associates. “However, frenzied purchasing and empty shelves often fuels further increases in demand. We do not see demand softening in the near future.”

That's what we usually do. South Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, etc.GFK wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 2:45 pmThat is a bomber. Maybe, road trip?Dahliathemeh wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 12:19 pmOnline ammo shopping a no go here. That blows because we can't take advantage of awesome sales!

Re: Ammo supply good in your ‘hood?
Still not good around here, the LGS handling my recent purchase had some 9mm brass case for around $30 and 9mm steel case for around $20, 1 box limit. Last time I checked at the larger LGS's their shelves were mostly bare.
I was checking my ammo supply the other day in anticipation of shooting my new pistol and I was thinking I only had around 15 boxes of 9mm and it turned out I have 33 boxes so that was some pretty good news.

Not ammo, but did pickup a box of Hornady 180 gr XTP's in 44 for $24 + tax.

Re: Ammo supply good in your ‘hood?
A quick search of some online retails reflect prices of ammo is creeping down and supply is going up. I suspect more ammo will start being on the shelves this Summer (July-August timeframe).

Re: Ammo supply good in your ‘hood?
I was in our local variety store yesterday picking up some cold meds (now my wife has this stinkin’ cold too) and lo and behold, they had CCI Mini-mags in stock for $8.49 for a 100 pk. Picked up two (the limit), too bad they are the HP’s as I have more of those than the SP’s but us beggars can’t be choosers, right?

Re: Ammo supply good in your ‘hood?
I'm glad to see post from members saying they are seeing shotgun shells on the shelves .... that isn't the case in our area ... I'd appreciate additional info as to the names of the stores where they are see them .... hopefully there will be some of those stores in our part of the country or that we may see as we travel across country in a couple of weeks

Re: Ammo supply good in your ‘hood?
Jim, I saw shot shells at both Academy, and Gander Outdoors the other day.
I didn't pay attention to brands as I wasn't interested, I even saw 10 ga.
I believe the majority of it was 12 ga. Next time I will pay better attention.
