Goodbye Maryanne

Post by Oldbrass » Wed Dec 30, 2020 8:59 pm

Dawn Wells passed away today, she was 82. Dawn played Maryanne on Gilligans Island. A beautiful and classy lady. Just between us I thought she was prettier than Ginger . However Tina Louise was beautiful also.

RIP, Dawn. As Oldbrass said, you were "a beautiful and classy lady" and another unfortunate victim of covid-19.

Definitely Mary Ann over Ginger, every time. I remember well the in depth bar discussions on the subject in the 60s

Indeed, Maryanne was just a down home type girl with Ginger being the movie star type. This young boy definitely had the “hots” for Maryanne. Now, had I seen the picture of her above leaning on something I probably would have fainted.

The Ginger/Maryanne always was a great debate back in the day. Wonder why nobody pined away for Mrs. Thurston Howe, all that cash could persuade somebody to look in that direction. Oh wait, I said MRS. Howe didn’t I?

The list of 2020 casualties of note continues. May they all rest in peace.
Yes, I agree; Dawn was a beautiful woman.

RIP Dawn Wells, thanks for the TV memories. Hopefully remembered for her body of work, not just as a covid casualty. She seemed to pop up in lots of early TV westerns.

Yup.

Mary Anne over Ginger
Janet over Chrissy
Bailey over Jennifer

I always had a thing for the Girl Next Door type over the Cheerleader.
Something about cute with sweet personality over beautiful (or thought so) and mean.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

We lost cute little Mary Ann, now Tanya Roberts has passed away. She was the lovely that played Sheena the Jungle
Babe, Kiri on the Beast Master, Donna's mom on That 70s Show.
All my favorite movie star ladies are gone. Farrah Fawcett left early, she was not that old. Natalie Wood still lives on in my DVD collection. She has her own shelf. ;)
