Silky BIGBOY 2000 Folding Saw

I've carried a bow saw in our camper since day 1 .... have used it over the years a few times but all too often find that for trimming limbs overhanging a campsite it is somewhat cumbersome to use .... after considerable research I bought a Silky BIGBOY 2000 as shown in this link ====> https://www.amazon.com/Professional-BIG ... 163&sr=8-1 .... it carries a most impressive 4.9 out of 5 stars based on 1,537 ratings .... I've tested it on some hardwood tree limbs in our yard and have found it to be one heck of a saw .... Silky saws are designed to cut on the pull stroke, not the push stroke .... when used correctly, this design prevents bowing the blade .... it makes chips fly with only the weight of the blade .... I've never used a handsaw that requires less physical work to use .... anyone interested can easily find bunches of favorable YouTube videos .... even folded it is a good size .... for use while hiking or hunting I'd probably go with a smaller model

Will it slice through a tomato without ripping the skin after cutting through nails like a Ginsu knife?

I've had a similar one for years. It goes through limbs like butter and folds up like a pocket knife.
That model looks really nice! I think the one I got was less than $20.00 ( at the time ) from Lowes.

wouldn't think so .. .. I do find the way the Japanese heat treat the teeth on their saw blades and the fact that they design those teeth to only cut when the blade is being pulled back toward the person whose hand is on the handle ....

Looks like it will work well for you. I had a folding blade saw years ago. Don’t recall the brand. The blade was straight and cut in both push and pull. I must have loaned it to someone who never returned it. I have had a bow saw for years since that worked great with the limitations of its shape. I had to sharpen it last year and now it seems to dull after two or three uses.
I just might have to replace it with one of these.

if you can get your hands on one and make a cut, I'm pretty sure you will be impressed .... do note that Silky offers several blade options .... the one I have has what they call XL Teeth .... they are very aggressive and do make chips fly

I decided to order a case (AKA : sheath) for our Silky BigBoy .... it arrived today as can be seen below it fits .... its made out of thick plastic .... its belt loop can easily be unhooked from the case .... first impressions are favorable but somewhat reserved .... no provision for any type of strap to ensure it stays in the case .... expensive yes but when its the only game in town, I guess that is to be expected

our Silky BIGBOY 2000 has proven to be a very handy saw .... it most definitely will not replace a chainsaw for cutting big logs or clearing large tracts of heavy forestation .... on the other hand it performs very, very well sawing hardwood up to 6" in diameter, and truly excels taking care or 4" ones .... for me its biggest drawback is its physical size .... I've run into a few task that would have been somewhat simpler to take care of it it had of been a bit more compact .... after once again doing a considerable research, I settled on the Silky Utra Accell ===> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B1 ... =UTF8&th=1 .... a couple of videos below show it in action .... with the two Silky folding saws and 2 Stihl chainsaws in the garage, we should be ready to handle tree pruning, firewood and tree cutting that I'm likely to undertake

the Accel 240 has proven to be an extremely well built folding saw .... the handle is rubber covered metal which allows for very solid grip .... 21" open, 12" closed .... its teeth will pull chunks with each pull .... this would be a saw I'd take hiking, on walking hunts, and/or when I wanted to be a bit less conspicuous ..Wink .. most certainly not as easily or quickly as chainsaw but cutting 5" -/+ limbs for a campfire shouldn't prove to be a major chore .... its sheath should be here in another week or so

Those little saws are incredible!
My Victorinox ATP has the same type of blade on it and goes through limbs like butter.

my recent interest in these saws stems from having to park on sites where overhanging limbs can make contact with our camper .... I've learned that its often much easier to eliminate the issue than it is to get the park to send someone out to take care of it .... at such times it is really handy to be able to remove the limb as quietly and inconspicuously as is possible ..

one of our sons owns acreage where he need to cut limbs to maintain his roads .... the other takes his son truck camping up in the foothills .... I've giving each one of the 2000 Silky saws ... the one with the acreage has an old Gator that he I'm sure he will put his in .... the other will pack it in his truck ..... from what I've seen messing with one back on our property line, they will most certainly use them ....

well, a sheath for our Accel 240 arrived today so our Silky collection is now complete .... below can be seen our yellowish handle Big Boy 2000 and reddish orange and black handle Accel 240 .... both saws will be packed in our camper so as to be available while we are traveling .... while it would be great if we never have to use either of them to remove a limb that could damage our camper ... that said, we do have plans to camp in Texas in a campground with a history of just such overhanging bushes/trees

I really believe that they are .... in thinking back to the decades I ran a big game hunting club, I sure wish I had them back then .... there has been many a time that I had to use a knife to cut limbs around hunting stand that blocked a shooting lane or otherwise irritated me .. .. for years I've collected tree limbs and such to use in making walking canes .... these saws would sure have made cutting them easier and quicker
