Grandpa's 12 ga
Here's a pic of my Grandfather's Springfield single shot 12 ga. I've had for years, had some rust on it and blueing was poor, so I took a scotchbrite to it and just keep it oiled good. Great turkey shoot gun !! Grandpa got a lot of rabbits w/it !! Always shot it at 12:00 new years eve. as I still do.

It is nice to have a gun that was passed down and that means so much to you. It looks to be in good condition. Thanks for sharing!

Nice collection, DWD. My keyboard is wet from me drooling over those DWs.
I had a 4" DW that my father-in-law gave to me. Passed it on to my daughter when she felt the need for some home protection and since she shot it so well. I would never as her to give it back, but I still miss that gun a lot.

Your so lucky .... My dad was a buyer and seller . And never keep anything to pass down . If he could make a $1 profit he would sell it .

I am BLESSED to have made so many memories w/Pop. Learned a lot also. Pop bought and sold Model T parts at swap meets/auctions.tx gunrunner wrote:Your so lucky .... My dad was a buyer and seller . And never keep anything to pass down . If he could make a $1 profit he would sell it .
And Grandparents [Mom's] lived next door, growing up.

Dave, great post. That's some shotgun. Looks to me, the best part of that shotgun is inside that frame.

Re: Grandpa's 12 ga
My grandfather's collection was broken up in the estate and sold off when before I was able to claim anything. Really wish I could have grabbed the shotgun he used on his rabbit hunts. I've seen it in a few pictures but I missed out on it. Hopefully someone else is putting it to good use.
Enjoy yours... I like that you still ring in the new year each December!
