Sun is back. 47 this am and headed to 80

First I heard of it was seeing smoke. I stopped watching the news to save my sanity.

My Doctor said that to avoid high blood pressure we should turn off the TV.

Cool, 54 degrees and overcast. Gloomy day but they say tomorrow will be better.
Coffee and the old trusty Orio's.

Getting a little smoky here with the wind coming in from the southwest. Hopefully changes direction soon.

70 for a high today, right now clear 48. Not much to do today, went to Mass last night, maybe some of the grand kids will dhow up. Next weekend therapist says knee will be good enough I can go to range. Everybody have a great day!

61 now high to be 71 and sunshine again. Been gloomy the last couple days. Still canning tomatoes and I am getting a little better at it. Ordered a food mill from Amazon because it made sense to remove the seeds and can a sauce which is what I wanted to end up with. Thinking of running what I have canned already through the mill and re-canning. What do you canners think? I got a lot of learning to do.

If sauce is what you're planning to make with the already canned tomatoes and the extra work isn't a problem, then I'd think it makes sense to make the sauce and can it. Plum tomatoes are the best since they have very few seeds to begin with. For your garden, look for seeds of the San Marzano variety, which have their origins in the Italian region of the same name. They make wonderful sauce.

One of the most highly rated commercial jarred sauces available is the pricey Rao's Marinara Sauce from the legendary Rao's Restaurant in Harlem, NYC. My wife and I bought the Rao's cookbook several years ago. We loved the sauce (and did make it with salt pork and a liberal dose of cracked black pepper). We were smoked in yesterday for most fo the day. Thick. Then the wind changed direction last night at supper time. Blew it all out in an hour. Nice a crisp today, 38F right now and overcast.

We had tons of smoke too. They say it’s gone but I still smell it. Overcast and fog at 48 degrees.

Sun is out and warming nicely so I'm going to get the Motorhome out and air it out.
Been more or less parked since March.
Think we might just go to Door County Wisconsin this Fall. Haven't been for a couple years now.

Ya brought back some memories for me Coop. Lived in the Chicago area for 20 years. Went to HS there.
My best friends' father owned 180 acres in Door County. We used to go camping up there. Beautiful country!

69 on its way to 87 later today .... a good chance of rain moving through during the mid afternoon .... we are keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Sally, there is a good chance that whatever is left of it will move through our area late this week .... getting ready to head to Raleigh where Maureen is due for morning eye surgery .... breakfast will come sometime after the surgery
