forty, those 230rn you're using; those normally for a .45auto? If so, what's your OAL? Thanks! I have a LOT of those.
Most likely they are but for my light loads they seemed to work well yesterday with 7.6 to 7.8 of Unique with a light crimp like used on .45 ACP
My length was 1.605-1.610. Trying for loads to keep the speeds in the 750-825 range.
Just trying to find a powder combo like the Cowboy Action loads of 750-800 FPS you buy of the shelf with 225-250 gr. lead bullets.

I didn't get any leading in the barrel from those old Speer 230 gr. bullets yesterday which was good.

Now I might just use some Alliant Black MZ a black powder substitute that cleans up like smokeless powder. I have 6 lbs. of that and it
would go well with the Remington 1858 and give 850 plus FPS without the pressure.

Alrighty then! That gives me a guideline to work with. Another load project to work on. That'll give me something to do. Provided I find some .45 Colt brass in the garage. Thanks!

Excellent! Thanks Randy. Oh, what powder did you use?
6.5 of Red dot did well in the Cowboy, but I loaded 6 to try this AM of 5.5 red dot.

I ended up grinding to much off the first one. :o
Started another but haven't finished.
Was using a bench grider over at the daughter's, but we are rewiring part of the house and the grinders receptacle was off the last time I was there.
Maybe tomorrow I can finish it.

Received my midway shipment today.
May not have to order anymore bullets for the colt.
New 255 gr mold. ;)
Couple hundred for the 25-20 also.

You guys are giving me some "stay at home"projects to do. Which is good, because I think I'm starting to run out of fun stuff to do. 8-) Heh, another garage project! I'm sure my work from home wife will approve!

Yeah I do mine on the bench grinder also with a good flat wheel. I'm sure you will get it right!

I did get a few 230 gr 45 acp's rolled up before we went to pick up the grandson.
Nothing productive after that, but did have some quality time with him though.
