Is the money there...yet?

Post by fortyshooter » Wed Apr 15, 2020 10:57 am

2 days ago I was checking my online credit union account and it showed the stimulus money as Pending Deposit for April 15 which means it's in the system for deposit.
So this morning I log on and the CU system is down of course. Too many customers logging on I guess!

Mine is pending also but I didn’t get very much. Enough to keep me in lattes for the month and that’s all.

Mine will go to my struggling son and family. I don't need it.

Got ours this morning. Neat; wife will probably pay some bills or something constructive with it.

Mine was deposited last night. Only got about $500, will go toward my property taxes which are higher than normal due to losing my senior discount this year.

Since this payment is actually a tax credit on your 2020 return I'm thinking that since I will qualify for the full amount based on my 2020 AGI I will get the remaining amount. Found these 2 statements.

"Again, since these payments are based on previous income, you might receive more or less money than intended on a current needs basis. While it won't help you today, experts say the IRS should allow taxpayers who didn't receive their payment to claim the credit on next year's tax return if they can show that their 2020 income qualifies."

and

"If the opposite happens to be true — your 2019 or 2018 income disqualified you from getting a payment but your 2020 income is within the limits — you should be able to get your full check when you file your 2020 tax return next year."

I've been filing my taxes with direct deposit/payment forever, so I expected it would be in my account today (I check my online account every day for activity), but no. So, I went to the https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment website where I was informed that it didn't have my direct deposit information. I almost always get a refund, but this year I cashed some bonds to pay for dental implants and had to pay the taxes due. I filed in February and they withdrew the taxes due from my checking account on April 1st, so they most certainly had it. Nonetheless, I entered the info again and was informed that I was eligible for the payment and would be notified.

Coincidentally, the amount I paid this year was just a few dollars more than $1200! Taking it with one hand and giving it back with the other.

Got ours, going to cover our property taxes for the first half of the year. We have been granted an extension from 4/30 to 6/15 but I figure if the Feds are kind enough to send me a deposit the least I can do is pay it forward to the county gvt. I do appreciate the irony of it. :D

We got the money. It was deposited electronically in our savings account. Now, what to do with it.

We have an ex daughter in law who my son deserted with two children. We have been helping her for years now and we are thinking of giving the total amount to her. She works doing accounting but not sure if she has any work right now, and I'll bet she's counting her pennies.

Done deal. :D

We really don't need it.

Just called her and told her. She had to hang up. She was crying.

The stimulus showed up as "pending" in my bank account for deposit on the 30th. A friend received his paper check in the mail last week. What's faster? Telegraph or pony express? :?

Received and deposited my paper check today to replace the money I had already given my son and family, due to some financial issues.
Didn't really need it. Probably would have turned into a new gun I really don't need either. ;)
