Third grade classroom. Don’t remember the teachers name. There was an announcement on the PA to turn on the classroom television. It was a pretty somber day after that.

We lived off of 51 in a tralier park, and water got almost in.
In '63 I was 4 yrs old, we moved around alot with dads job so I'm not sure and neither are here to ask.

Except that I was in the 7th grade, that's where I was, too. St. Mary's School. Sisters of Mercy. The uniform for boys included blue pants, a blue dress shirt, and a blue tie embroidered with SMS. All of the nuns were in tears. Most of us were, too.

Not that it matters but it was on the 22nd. I visited The site last spring and the school book depository. It was the third time I’ve been there. Seeing the location really brought it into perspective. I was surprised at how close the fatal shot was and the angle of the car moving away.

Don't really know, but maybe spring of '64. There was a big snowfall in the area in Dec '63 that lasted quite awhile, so that may have contributed to some flooding. I was in CA (MCAS El Toro) by then tho, and didn't pay much attention to TN. And by Fall of '65 I was a 20 yo Corporal, eating C-Rats, packing a M-14 in VN, trading bullets with some of the locals, and dodging the occasional midnite mortar. Didn't get back stateside till late Dec '66, and found out the whole country had lost it's mind. Or maybe I was the one with the loose screws.

I was in 4th grade. Probably in school. I remember the teacher asking us to write up how we were feeling. I was very oblivious to the the non-local world at that age. So I didn't then understand the fuss of it.

Soph in high school, in the library, reading. News came over the PA system, and the "additional silence" in that large room was overwhelming. Then all students were told to return to homerooms. My homeroom was located at main h.s. entrance, which was the cornerstone of the south end of campus. We sat directly under a large brick bell tower built to welcome people. Today the tower is electronic. In 1963, it rang strong and clear.

That was a tough day knowing for "whom the bell tolled."

Sophomore in High School .... announcement came over the intercom and the teacher turned on the a television .... don't recall changing classes for the rest of the day

I was 9 and in 3rd grade in Baltimore Md. As many know Baltimore was a Catholic colony. Every home was draped with black crape paper and a picture of JFK. Only learned about the assassination when school was out that day at home. So much going on. I remember better October 12. 1962 with the Cuban missile crisis, the year before. We went home early that day. Our principal broken in on the PA. said a prayer and then sent us home. We all sat in front of our small screen black and white TV and waited for Khrushchev to turn the ships around and head back to the Soviet Union. Very trying times.
