Ruger 25-06

Post by Shakey Jake » Sat Nov 16, 2019 1:08 pm

Decided to shot the Ruger No 1 rifle in 25-06 today as I loaded up some rounds the other day. Here's two pictures. I got it sighted as best as my eyes would allow. I decided it likes the Nosler 115 gr best over 49 gr of IMR 4350. The last few rounds were shot on the white target both at 100 yards. Seems my eyes to a bit better in the few days following my injections. The doctor is changing my drug from Avastin to Lucentis. He says one eye is getting better but the other is still leaking blood into the retina. Forgot to mention the scope is an older Weaver 3X9 scope.

Likin' the middle and lower right. Good shooting! Your load looks to be a good one. When I had a 25-06, it's preferred load was 51.0gr H-4831 and the Hornady 120gr Interlock. About 2900 fps MV and accurate. You're doing it right.
I only have one No.1 left: 30-06.

I have a membership at American Shooting Center: https://www.americanshootingcenters.com/

It's not too far from the home. The only problem is it gets really muddy during wet weather. You could lose a shoe setting up your targets.

Jake I had a 25-06 at one time. Might even have some left over stuff for it I will take a look and let you know. Good job on the targets cant imagine what a person goes thru with your eye condition.

Jake
I found a partial box of shells. There is one round in there that is a 30-06 case and the rest is 25-06. I thought I had a set of dies and some bullets but Im not seeing them. You can have this ammo if you want it and I will look a little more but so far thats all I can find. Went back and looked at another location and found a set of RCBS dies Jake. You can have those also. This box of shells is reloads that I loaded for a friend. I can pull the bullets and dump the powder should be able to get it in a small priority box that way. I will save the few bullets if you want them other wise I will throw them away to.

Jake, I'll have a look in my reloading gear and see what I have also.
