PT has fallen into the Black Powder stronghold. Easy to do as it is alot of fun. Im going to do more of it this year than I did last. Not sure about Sir Henry other than losing his wife had a big impact on him. I totally understand that.

Hi, all, so sorry for dropping out of sight lately, but what I've realized is that this new part-time job has sucked up most of my "leisure time," which, now that I reflect on it, was spent over the past year here on the Forums. It's a pretty fun gig, with the local Parks & Rec Dept, but I've been working a bit more than I'd planned.
That, and a very busy mid-Sep to mid-October dealing with a rental property rehab and the normal chores of life such as house and yard, dog and kids (and grandkids) have left me pretty frazzled.
Thanks, Jim, for your VM this morning, and thanks, Mark, for the public query. I'll be around more in the future, I promise.
I"ve also been a bit hobbled by a nagging hip condition that I've finally decided to have X-rayed and looked at by a chiropractor (tomorrow), so we'll see if I can even make it to deer camp this year. No idea what's going on, but those of you who have met me no doubt noticed the "hitch in my get-along." It's gotten much worse, so time for some professional intervention.
Enough of my excuses! Glad to be thought of and happy to be back among you all again!

Good to hear from again, Evan. Keep us posted on your hip. I had one of mine replaced two years ago; up and walking the next morning and out of the hospital the day after that. Good luck.

He's been a good bit active on Facebook. Looks like he got a travel bucket list of places he's been to and still going to.

Well, today's Chiropractic visit explains a lot.

The X-ray shows pretty much zero cartilage between the ball on the top of my femur and the socket, otherwise known as "severe osteoarthritis," which usually translates to hip replacement.

The Chiropractor didn't go so far as to say that, but he also declined to take any more of my money for further treatments until I get a more informed opinion, which I now have set up for next Friday with a highly recommended sports medicine orthopedic surgeon here in KC.

So, instead of heading to deer camp on November 15th, I'll be headed west to the Kansas side of KC for said visit. Would have been hard to imagine me trudging through the woods in the pitch dark, let alone climbing up and down a tree stand. The pain is pretty much constant when I'm doing anything other than sitting (in the right position) or sleeping, and usually on about an 8 on a 1-10 scale, so better get it fixed, huh?

It's hell getting old...

dang, sure hate to hear this .... been there with my left knee .... while having it replaced hasn't totally eliminated all of the associated issues, the lack of always present pain makes the surgery worth it

HA! I'm thinking more LegoLand than Six-Million-Dollar-Man!

Not getting ahead of myself, though! Let's see what the Sports-Doc has to say!

The thing about surgeons, though: they LOVE to perform surgeries!

The surgeon I saw about my knees recommended o wait until I was less active. Said the knee joints would last longer. I get a cortisone shot in each knee every 3 months. The pain and swelling go away for 2 to 2 1/2 months.
Sorry to hear you are going to miss some of hunting season. I can't climb in and out of a ladder stand either. I started using a ground blind last season.

Sounds a lot like my own diagnosis, but not to worry; the surgery only took about an hour and was uneventful. It was pretty amazing, actually. While it takes time to fully heal internally, the benefit is immediately evident and virtually painless. I was given a prescription for a narcotic pain reliever that I filled on my way home but never needed to take. Good luck.
