Back to the "rain routine" in KCMO.
Just a little while ago, I glanced out the kitchen slider window and watched a cloudburst happening. Quickly got .6" rainwater in less than 5 minutes.

Out of curiosity, I looked up the definition of a cloudburst in an article from worldatlas.com.
A cloudburst is a sudden rainfall which can be quite unexpected, very abrupt, and rather drenching. Meteorologists state that rainfall from cloudbursts, often in the form of extremely large droplets, is usually with a fall rate greater than or equal to 4.9 inches per hour.

So that short burst calculates to just over 7" in one hour!
No wonder the wide Missouri is running its banks into the corn fields.

Back to the "rain routine" in eastern South Dakota as well .... it set in a couple of hours before daylight and is still coming down .... the pictures below tell a small part of the story .... the basement sump pumps in town are pumping at full force .... trip to Walmart in Brookings for meds refill and groceries needed for Sunday's family gathering .... switched over from coffee to iced tea early today

Good morning all, back in central W. Tenn. and it's a nice 70° here.
Got most of the yard cut yesterday, will finish that later this morn.
Suppose to get some rain this evening.
Was good to sleep in our own bed last night.

Rained hard last night again. Thunderstorms in the area again today. Got some riding to do, hopefully clears up later. If not, maybe go to the range. Tea in the Henry mug.

Adventures in Cell Texting
A wife sent a text to her husband: Don't forget to stop by Costco and buy vegetables on your way back from the office ... and Luann says "Hi."

Her husband texted back: Who is Luann?

Wife: Nobody. I was just making sure that you read my text.

Husband: But I'm with Luann right now, so which Luann are you talking about?

Wife: Where are you?

Husband: Near the vegetables.

Wife: Wait, I'm coming there right now.

After ten minutes, the wife texts her husband: I'm here, where are you?

Husband: I'm at the office. Now that you're at Costco, buy whatever vegetables you need.

Quiet morning so far, cloudy but not predicting rain. Have to mow since I was rained out Friday and had out of state friend over yesterday. Planning a quick trip to the range with my H004VL .17HMR that I have not shot yet, maybe take a pistol as well. Have to see what happens with the day.

78 degrees and going into the 90s with 90% humidity. Got the military brat grandkids we seldom see for a week. Gonna see if I can get their attention in a bit when they start shooting from the back porch. Hid some tannerite in the backstops. 8-). Already found out I'm gonna have a hard time hanging onto my new 38-55 side gate. Gonna be a good day. :)
