Longtime goal achieved!

Post by ditchparrot » Wed Jan 01, 2025 7:43 pm

For years I tried to get this kid to fire a single round through a shotgun and she wouldn't do it. She wanted no part of the recoil that she could see happen when I fired one. Well, we got over the hump on the first day of 2025! The Henry lever-action .410 was just the ticket. She went through at least a box of ammo, destroying plastic bottles of various sizes filled with water. What a fun day!

Congratulations. Funny you should post this...

My granddaughter was up for Christmas, and just Turned 18 in July and has been "minding the farm" more and more while Mom and Dad are taking care of other business. She is alone more often and there was recently a shooting at one of the Casinos in the area. Her mom wanted her to try the 410 they picked up while they were here, and not only did she agree to try it, she shot it again and again. Then, she agreed to shoot the Marlin 22 semi-auto... Once you get the door open... you never know what they'll do.

I kept telling her mother, Eyes and Ears make all the difference. (That is the way THEY were raised.) LOL.
The first time she was around gunfire she had NO hearing protection and the muzzle blast frightened her something awful.

Cool deal, ya just have to let them do it on their own, congrats.
Sounds like a big time was had by ya both.
I got the two oldest grandsons shooting 22, 2 summers ago.
Last summer they both shot one of the 410's, # 2 didn't much care for it.
Number 3 is 7 and back in the summer while here, he helped me load some 25-20's.
After we were done I asked if he wanted to shoot a few.
He agreed and said it was fun.
Nice getting the young ones started.
Number 2 lives nearby the others are way over in SC,
Number 2 has gotten into deer hunting this season and has killed three so far.
