Range Report: daily plinking

Some nice shooting there from the both of you Hatch.
And some good looking lumber on those firearms, how old is the 39?

I got out and put 5 mag tubes worth of Fed. Match through the little H001 yesterday afternoon.
Just ringing the gongs from the patio at 20 to 45 yds., while sipping on a cold one.

Al, I was shooting my original 41 mag loads with H110 as I want to use them up the right way, shooting. I do have a bunch of the 2400 loads ready to go. The 2400 is more accurate than the H110 but both will certainly get the job done. I didn’t get to the LVT this trip but like your experience it’s a great shooter. Mine doesn’t have the BX trigger and could use the upgrade but the original is pretty good.

Vaquero, the 39-A is a 2009 JM, just before the Remington switch.

Al, I'm shooting off hand with it today only and hitting the small gongs quite regularly.
From the patio even the small one at 45ish yds. Hit more than missed.
Seems I did compared it with some other ammo last year in a couple different rifles .
I believe I posted about in the range report sec. When I did.
Alright a few more rounds.

Well, I had a little jam with the Henry.
First one I remember, but think it had to do with the mag. tube backing out.
I have an O-ring on the end to help keep up the slack, but this one has been on there forever.
So I changed it out after I cleared the jam and we be slinging lead freely once again.

I remember why the 949 isn't shot as much as there others, other than it's in nice shape and try to keep it that way.
The trigger pull is looooooong, even in SA mode.
Put it up and pulled out another little DA/SA, a little Amadeo Rossi, it has a much better trigger.
It's said to be a copy of S&W's model 63.

Speaking of Browning 22s, the used BL-22 I bought developed the infamous BL-22 feeding issue where the round fails to lift far enough up, so it jams going into the chamber. I suspect a lot of BL-22s go on the used market for this reason. This is the third BL-22 I've had over the years with feeding, failure to fire issues. No more. I took it back to my shop where I bought it and they gave me most of my money back. Fair enough, because I did shoot it a lot when it was working. No more BL-22s for me.

My wife had a Bl-22 several years ago. She shot my Marlin 39-A and liked it but it’s way too big for her small frame. So we got her the Browning as it fit her perfectly. I don’t recall if it was a youth model or not but it fit her perfectly. We put a scope on it but unfortunately that caused her to have difficulty lowering the hammer down after loading and cycling a round. After a safe accidental discharge we decided that that was not the rifle for her and now she shoots (very well) a Ruger American youth model bolt gun. Miss that Browning as it sure was a good looking rifle.

Never shot or handled a BL, but my friend that lived in Fla. had a Winchester 9422 that was butterly smooth and shot well.
Ever since I've wanted one, but they do demand a premium price.
That and I've never seen one locally that was for sale.

This thread was two pages back on ‘my posts’ meaning it’s been too long since I’ve plinked. I got home from the hospital two weeks ago today and have been pre-occupied with my garage project.

This morning‘s shooter was this Winchester single shot 68. It’s fun to get into the rhythm of loading and cocking in two separate steps. Since it was warm and sunny with no wind I took my time and shot at the gongs offhand at 35 yards. It took me five shots to hit the first time then I hit it again almost every time. I don’t think I missed twice in a row in the 50 or so shots I made.

I keep telling myself I need to bench shoot this on paper but walking outside still in my pj’s in the early morning sun makes me lazy and the prep time for plinking is zero.
