I've heard that incandescent bulbs will usually last longer if left on all the time but don't know about leds.

Edit: Didn't see Mag's post before I made mine. Interesting article, I have quite a few outside lights around my place, all leds, some motion detecting, most on dusk to dawn timers but some are on 24/7. They draw so little power and our power is some of the least expensive in the nation (2.7¢ per kWh) so I don't worry about them being on all the time.

In general I turn LEDs on and leave them on especially when they are general indoor house lights. My outside party lights are on a dusk to daylight switch which also allows me to burn them at 30%. I’ve done the math and all my outside lights consume about 45 watts when on.

My new garage is a bit different. At 1600 lumens consuming 15 watts they are not the most energy efficient for an LED. The reason is I can adjust the color temperature and they have a high Color rendering index (CRI). The 15 watts doesn’t seem like much but there are three switched circuits of eight each. That’s 24 lights and consume 360 watts. I also have another switch that controls six more lights over where my bench will go. That’s a grand total of 450 watts and you can be sure they won’t be on unless I’m using them.

450watts is a lot for leds but imagine what the total watts would be for a equivalent amount of light using incandescent or florescent bulbs.

Well I did something really stupid. I hooked my trailer up to the van and pulled it out. When I hooked the trailer up I opened the back door and the pull down rope caught caught in the door. That’s a thousand dollar mistake.

Bummer Gene...reminds me of once when I went to pull away on my 4Wheeler and forgot it was still cable locked around one of the 6x6 porch columns. Thankfully, no damage though.
Hope your repair comes out cheaper than expected.

Well s**t happens and none of us are exempt from it. It makes you mad for sure but anymore I just take a break and shake my head. Sorry for the mishap Gene. Do you only have an auto opener on one door?

Currently no auto opener on either. When I had the electric work done he put an outlet for them.

I straightened the garage door and it surprised me how straight it was. I also finished installing the chimney. Or at least finished it on the inside. I still have some chalking to do on the outside.

The inside doesn’t look purdy but no worries as the spray insulation will cover it. They are scheduled to come tomorrow. The outside which you’ll never see looks nice.
