Revolvers from Henry!?

I've kinda been lookin for another 357 revolver, but
I'm wanting a single action.
I have an original King Cobra.
A Cimarron, Uberti, or even another Vaquero would be nice.
A buddy in Texas recently picked a ss Vaquero for $400
Wish I could stumbled into a deal like that.

I don't think I'll become an owner of the revolvers, but I'm still a proud Henry owner.

I agree. Fortunately the 45 Colt CCH I got is just checkered. No "Henry" logo.
Now the 30-30 Large Frame does have "Henry" and some flower/viney things

Did you read the description of the revolver? They called it a "J" frame= wrong. The J frame is the five shot Chief's special .38 the smallest S&W frame size made. The 29 is an N frame. I wonder what else they got wrong.

The Henry Big Boy revolvers look like they are roughly the same size as the Smith & Wesson K Frame revolvers. In other words, the perfect size for a revolver.

I meant the engraved Smith & Wesson the top says "N" frame but the list of specs say "J" frame. And look at the price. For just a little more than the MSRP of the Henry revolver, one can purchase that classy engraved .44 magnum. Don't get me wrong, I am a great fan of the H.R.A. rifles. I have two of them but to me they are going to have to step up their game and reduce the price before I can get excited about the new revolvers.

Travlin, I did not notice that type-o. But, I have seen such things on other sites as well. I posted it as a comparison about engraving. Vendors do it, not just Henry. Henry seems to be proud of its revolver and other products. And maybe, it may view it as a collector's item one day? I am not one for collecting firearms. So, the engraving does nothing for me. I buy firearms to shoot, not collect. I have not plans to buy a Henry revolver. But, who knows what the future holds?

While I am disappointed the new Henry revolver wasn't a single action, I'll hold off judgement on the Henry revolver until it gets the real test, namely, how it functions in terms of trigger, reliability and accuracy. The attention to those details counts the most on the success of a new revolver and for me, personally, on a double action revolver, how much effort a manufacturer puts in to a good DA trigger pull tells me a lot. Doesn't have to be match grade or even great, just useable, before I'll consider buying a specific model of DA revolver. We'll see when the new Henry shows up for testing and reviews.

GFK , I am with you on the not buying a firearm just to look at. The only reason that I gave a second look at the engraved Smith was that even with the display box it wasn't that much more than the H.R.A. msrp. Just saying that unless the new Henry wheelguns can be bought for about one half of sticker price, I can't see them being a big seller. I guess time will tell.

I agree, that Smith is not bad. But for $1,300, the hammer and trigger could be more polished. I have a M360 that looked the same way. I used some Flitz polish. Now, the finish on the trigger and hammer are much less burnt looking and more clean looking.

I mentioned on the Ruger forum to a similar post. The Henry revolver doesn't interest me from what I can see from their picture. Way more interesting if they offered a single action revolver in 357. I also mentioned I wasn't interested in a Marlin rifle, seems Ruger really likes the 45-70 cartridge. I said if I were to buy another revolver it would probably be a Ruger or another rifle it would probably be a Henry.

I'd have more interest if they offered a SA in 45 Colt. Any interest would be squashed though by too high a price.

I am not a fan of the aesthetic of these revolvers, but I like that they put them out there.

Being the first offerings, I would think they have other ideas on the drawing board to expand. It seems like many of us don't like the look, but like the idea of a Henry revolver. I know I like the idea, and that I would like to see what other models they are working on. Maybe something like a Colt 1860?

Interesting reactions here on the new revolver. Makes me think that it would have been better if Henry submitted some drawings to present it to the public first to see what kind of feedback they would get.

My first reaction to the appearance of the Henry wheelgun was negative due to the Harrington Richardson/starter gun resemblance. I also didn't care for the "horn" on the top of the backstrap and am of the opinion that the only place brass belongs around any gun is the cartridge case. UH OH!!

On the plus side...I'm of the opinion that the Smith K-frame is the sweetest of all midsize framed revolvers but it's no secret they are a bit fragile for a steady diet of full house loads. This Henry is no doubt a little more robust and long term durable than the K. If they give it a decent trigger pull both double and single that would be a plus also. AND...there appears to be enough meat in the cylinder to make a five shot .41 mag!! Not going to hold my breath waiting but I'd be in the market then.

Hey Paratrooper, I like the idea of the 1860.
But really...Tell me any reason to purchase one of these over a Python, GP100, S&W 686, 19, 27 etc. 686's and GP-100's can be had for $800 all day". If you are buying Pythons, S&W 27's all day, you need to be buying all you can buy!
And much better lookin.
