Henry revolvers and .360 Buckhammer
Re: Henry revolvers and .360 Buckhammer
I totally agree with both. Sometimes it seems that H.R.A. has lost it's direction. Maybe the big I should get in there and kick some Bxxx so that the rifles are not sent back to be fixed.
Re: Henry revolvers and .360 Buckhammer
Was there anything more about the revolver in the email you got?

I see it and I see the quality in the last couple of years go the other direction. People are sending guns back multiple times for repair. In some cases just accepting the poor quality. Anthony Imperato's guarantee is still on the website and for me its 3 strikes. If it isnt right after that I want my money back

Guess I will just stay with my old model Colt Trooper .357 and my Ruger GP 100. The Colt I bought in 68 and it started me on handloading. I put at least 5K rounds through it and it still locks up tight.
Re: Henry revolvers and .360 Buckhammer
I finally got the Henry email announcement. Couple of links from the email.
Henry New Models page https://www.henryusa.com/firearm-category/new-models/
Henry Announcement page https://www.henryusa.com/news/henry-rev ... -and-more/
A distinction in these new models is the new Brass Large Frame Side Gate rifles with Octagon barrels.
Henry a couple of years ago released Brass Large Frame Side Gate rifles with round barrels. One of these I have.

Re: Henry revolvers and .360 Buckhammer
From looks I think Henry did a great job and the revolver reminds of an early S&W with the case extractor hanging out there and not tucked in to the barrel....no under lug. Really like that birds head version too. I would have to handle one and see how the trigger action is plus tightness of cylinder lock. Price wise most good revolvers are going to be in the 900 dollar range and remember that is the full list price. Made in the USA cost some money which it should to provide good pay for the skilled workers.
Just might latch on to one! Still holding on to 50 bucks of birthday money!

Re: Henry revolvers and .360 Buckhammer
Notice that the bolt cuts on the H.R.A. revolvers are offset from the chamber centers. This makes the cylinder stronger than those with cuts centered on the chambers. I hope that they get around to making one with an adjustable rear site , otherwise I am not interested
Re: Henry revolvers and .360 Buckhammer
Except for the cylinder release, the new revolvers look just like the COLT double action revolvers with the unsupported ejector rod front next to the barrel in front of the frame. S&W revolvers that weren't top break, had a spring loaded catch that pops into the hollow in the front of the ejector. That was part of the cylinder lockup. Those of you that have Smiths, know what I mean. So to me they look like a Colt.

I wish they would concentrate on making high quality rifles & shotguns. I applaud Henry for adding the side gates and also keeping the loading tube in their lever guns. I think they are stretching themselves too thin and compromising on quality. I would prefer less models with higher quality.
I have noticed a lot of quality issues among members here, especially the last couple of years.

My bad . The first photo is of the right side and there appears that the handgun has a sideplate like a Colt or a Smith. Also the crane is enclosed in the frame like a Charter Arms and not like a Colt or S&W.

Re: Henry revolvers and .360 Buckhammer
Steve51, your post is spot on. I sure do like my two Henry rifles and have had no issues so far. But, it seems Henry is, as you say, stretching themselves too thin. A lot of "need to send it back again" posts to ignore. Hoping Henry can right the ship and get QC & QA back on track.Steve51 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 10:13 pmI wish they would concentrate on making high quality rifles & shotguns. Henry usually does a very good job with outgoing cosmetic quality. Outgoing quality that affects functionality has been hit miss problem for more than 5 years.

Re: Henry revolvers and .360 Buckhammer
It's got a sideplate and the shape of it is very similar to a Smith. What it doesn't have are adjustable sights or an ejector rod shroud. The birdshead grip is big enough to probably be relatively comfortable unlike the Ruger which (In my opinion) was ridiculosly small.
It'll be interesting to look one over but I guess my Smiths have me spoiled.

Re: Henry revolvers and .360 Buckhammer
The more I think about it Henry should have started with a good SA revolver platform as it matches better to what they sell.....lever rifles.
They could have brought out a nice 38/357 with round or octagonal barrel option and later expanded it to 44 and 45 Colt.
Pictured a nice blued barrel with CCH frame and a polished brass grip frame and some great looking walnut grips!
The DA revolver market is more slanted to metro carry use and is full of competition like a Smith 7 shot 357 on a L frame.
Did Henry send out a survey to it's customers on what they might like to see in a Henry revolver???
So since I have a nice variety of well known and performing 38/357 revolvers already I think I would pass for now on the new Henry revolver.

Re: Henry revolvers and .360 Buckhammer
For that price one could buy a Ruger or S&W with adjustable sites. Unless the out the door price is reduced a lot I don't see a lot of sales of the new H.R.A. revolver.

Re: Henry revolvers and .360 Buckhammer
When I bought my Henrys, I paid far less than MSRP. Just something to think about...

Re: Henry revolvers and .360 Buckhammer
Henry MSRP vs Retail has been roughly 15%, with On Sale price upwards 20% off MSRP. Sometimes better deals happen.
So maybe retail could be around $789. Still too high for this style and caliber pistol.
