Evil Roy - 1st shots

Took my new Evil Roy to the range today to test out different ammo and adjust the buckhorn sights. The first target was set at 25 yards and each target is noted for ammo brand. Left to right top, then left to right bottom. SK Standard Plus was the best.

The second photo is the target at 15 yards with Wolf Match Extra. Then it got too dark.

All shots were bench rested.
The front sight totally wipes out the 3" targets at 25 yards.
Leaning towards a scope.

Looks pretty good for first time out with iron sights at 25 yards! Many of us can relate to the front bead covering up the target at those distances.
If you're wanting to keep the traditional look, there is always the Skinner Peep sight path. With helpful advice from members here, I ended up with a Lyman Globe on the front, and bought a set of Shaver inserts, which give you a nice variety of very finely cut posts, cutouts, cross-hairs, etc.
Here's a pic...This one is mounted on my SGC (octagon barrel), but you get the idea. I experimented with a few different inserts before landing on this teeny post. LIke I said, there are lots to choose from.
Lots of good scopes out there, too. Great info in the "Sights" and "Scopes" sub-forums. Best of luck and keep us posted!
