My New Golden boy coming in next week
I have not had a Henry for a while, especially the Golden boy model. I was looking through YouTube gun videos the other day and saw someone shooting a Henry Lever Action youth .22. After watching that video I went to the Henry web page and found out that they make a Golden Boy youth model. I ordered it from my LGS today, it should be in next week. One of my favorite rifles is a Browning BL-22 Micro Midas, this rifle is a youth model rifle that is exactly the same size as the Golden Boy Youth Model. Thirteen inch pull and shorter barrel. I am 5'5"tall and that shorter rifle is perfect for me. I will also really enjoy it in the Golden Boy. Can't wait to get her in. Just wanted to spout off my excitement.

Thanks guy's
I will let you know. It's nice when you don't have to cut the stock down to make that perfect fit.

Re: My New Golden boy coming in next week
Went in squared payment away with LGS today. He said the rifle was sent out on Friday and should be here on Tuesday. I will pick it up after work Tuesday evening and get to try it out after work Wednesday. Great LGS.

Re: My New Golden boy coming in next week
I pick her up from the dealer. I bought the Goldenboy Youth because I am only 5'5" tall and have short length of pull. The 13" length of pull I was hoping would fit me ok even though I have both my Browning BL-22's at 12" length of pull. To bad the 13" length was usable as is a 14" for me but not very comfortable to shoot. I ended up re-doing the length of pull on this Henry at 11.5" length of pull. The Browning's only have a 33 degree lever swing so 12" on them is great. I have not shot the Henry as of yet took me a while to get the stock cut down and finished the way I think it looks half way decent. It is set at 11.5" length of pull due to the full lever swing.
So don't be to critical on the way she looks. I really do not have the tools to counter sink the top of the brass butt plate. Plus if I did that the screw hole would have been to low in the stock and would have probably broken the stock out. I will shooter her tomorrow or Sunday on my range.
Another thing I have noticed and called Henry about is the front grip can be moved almost 1/16 of an inch front to back. I called Henry and they are sending me out a new fore grip. It appears the hole that the screw goes through is oblong and could be causing the problem (I hope). No big deal but I would like to get it tightened up.

That's the very best type of rifle to own --- one that has some mods made that exactly suit your needs & wants! No negatives at all from me on how your Henry looks; it's just fine. And I especially like the very sharp-looking wood of your stock. Thanks for the cool
outdoor photo shoot. Enjoy-enjoy.

Something about octagon barrels and brass that I just think is absolutely beautiful. Congrats on such a fine Henry purchase.

Re: My New Golden boy coming in next week
Thanks all and did post in How Many after reading you're post JEBar. I just got my Skinner brass dovetail sight on her and sighted in along with my home made sling and Mikes Swivels. Took a while to sight her in but now she is on and shooting well. Not getting real tight groups but for plate plinking it is on and doing well. I looked close at the end of the barrel where the rifling is and the rifling does not come all the way to the crown. It stops about 1/16 to 1/8 " from the end. Is this normal for all the Golden Boys ? wonder if that is why I am not grouping as well as it should ?

Funny, but looking at that gun, it looks unique; like no other I've seen before. Not unlike some of Sir Henry's.

Re: My New Golden boy coming in next week
Henry88,
Probably because I am a little unique. I am 5'5" tall so I really have a short length of pull. The Henry with that full lever swing was really hard for me to cycle while it was shouldered. I now have the length of pull cut down to 11.5" and I can cycle the action with no problems. My favorite rifle is a 1980 Browning BL-22 that the stock is cut down to 12" that I saved from a pawn shop. It was already drilled and tapped for a Williams FP peep sight. With the Skinner sight now on this Golden Boy Youth model it is also a very easy rifle to shoot.
So yes it is a little different, it is made for me. The only thing I have to do now is match the back of the stock with the rest of the Henry finish on the stock. I had to file the finish off to fit the butt plate. Even though it is not the best fit at the top. One of these day's I will buy another stock and have it professionally redone to look like a factory job. But no Hurry at all, I am happy with it.
If you look at the crown close you can see the rifling stops 1/8" away from the crown. Is this normal ? I also hand cut the sling to my liking from an old cowboy belt.
