New Henry Rifle
Well, I ordered a Henry rifle H004S Silver Boy. Should be here in a week. This will be my second Henry.
The decision was between buying a Silver Boy or a Silver Eagle. Too bad I can't afford both. I decided on the Silver Boy as I shoot my rifles often and I don't own any rifles that are safe queens. I wasn't sure that a Silver Eagle was the best rifle for a few thousand rounds per year use, even though I take good care of my rifles. Anyone want to comment on using a Silver Eagle for a shooter?
I will post pictures when the Silver Boy arrives, and a short range report.
Waiting in anticipation.....

Re: New Henry Rifle
Welcome to the forum. I would go with the Evil Roy. Mainly because I don't like the drop in the stock on the others.

The Evil Roy was our 3rd Henry. 16' heavy barrel balances nice. Better sights. Really like the brushed silver reciever. And ER's signature on the stock makes me feel young, like the Red Ryder BB gun.

Greetings & Welcome from the Show-Me-State.
I'd say it would be a good thing to put the Silver Eagle on top of your Henry "Gotta-Get-Next" list!
Enjoy your Forum visits.

Today I picked up my new H004S. This is one beautiful rifle! Here are some pictures that I took indoors as it has been raining for several days. Sorry for the picture quality, but my old Mickey Mouse camera doesn't like "indoors".

These photos don't really do justice to these Henrys. Tomorrow hopefully will be dry weather, and a trip to the range.

The pictures are good, especially with the revolvers. Your new rifle is very nice!
Re: New Henry Rifle
Great looking Henry's and revolvers. Makes me want to get out and do some plinking. Hopefully tomorrow evening. I keep small pieces of drywall hanging on a wire. Instant gratification as white smoke flies. It is ok on my shooting range grass and no mess to clean up. Yeah, I am lazy. Enjoy that new Silver Boy. Looks awesome!!

Very nice, congratulations!
Hope the rain stops so you can get out and shoot it!

Re: New Henry Rifle
Visited the range yesterday to test fire and sight-in the Silver Boy. As I expected and just like my H001, the Silver boy's action was smooth as silk. After 150 rounds fired, not one malfunction of any kind, using three brands of ammo. I did note that the rifle shoots a bit to the left so I had to adjust the sight quite a bit.
I also noted that the front hand guard is ever so slightly loose, and I have put a coat of gun oil on the hand guard to see if that will firm it up. I think most folks would not notice the front guard. I think the gun sitting for some time in inventory probably dried out the front guard.
I am very happy with the Silver Boy, and my first shooting at 25-yards (yes that is very short for a rifle) gave me groups of under 2 inches. I know I can shrink those groups with some practice.
I have been considering buying a Spee D Loader as it appears my Henry rifles will make it to the range often.

Re: New Henry Rifle
A couple of front hand guards are loose on mine but it never effects my shooting so I leave it alone. I use the speed loaders in the winter but if its warm out I don't bother.

Glad to hear you had good results testing and sighting in your Silver Boy. Yes, Henrys have that very silky smooth lever action!
And Yes to the Spee D Loader, Rimfire.
Getting this tool was a very good purchase for me.
I always use it when the SGC and I go to the range.

Re: New Henry Rifle
I tend to not use the speed loader because I often will only load five rounds at a time. But in the winter in sub-freezing weather that same loader is worth its weight in gold.

Re: New Henry Rifle
Thanks for the comments, and for the info. on the loader. Some of the things about the Henry and helpful equipment such as the loader I am learning about as I go!
Do most of you shoot with the large notch, or the small notch in the rear sight?

Re: New Henry Rifle
I no longer have stock buckhorn sights on my two Henrys. Both have Skinner peeps, which do help my elder eyes. Others will have some good answers for you, I'm sure.
I use the Spee D Loader differently than it is configured, too. It holds, I think, a max of 16 - .22LR rounds. I only load ten per each fill tube, which gives me 80 rounds total. Two main reasons: first, easier to keep track of 10 when I count rounds before going empty, and secondly, helps me not shoot as much ammo at each ammo outing. Plus when I use the MO Conservation Dept shooting range, the range officer keeps quite tight controls on shooting timing. There are several cease fires each hour so people can change targets. During a ceasefire, there is little time to load the magazine tube one at a time; the Spee D Loader helps during those timed cease fires to be ready for the next block of shooting time. I've found I like to use it particularly at that range.
If you get one, you'll find your very best usage for it, too. Have fun!

The Spee-D-Loader holds 15 LRs per tube, 120 total and, as PT7 suggests, they load very quickly, so you can shoot all 120 rounds in no time.PT7 wrote:

Like Sir Henry, I most often will only load five at a time, both with my H001 and with my H006M. Then, I alternate shooting with my revolvers; five rounds from my Heritage revolver then five with the H001; or five rounds with my Uberti SmokeWagon and five with the H006M.Sir Henry wrote:
